Wow! Lots of figures, and each with their own pose, clothing and personality! Providing background is always helpful for both the creator and the readers. Despite all the women running around, and no evidence of men, I had no idea that the gender ratio was so skewed until reading about it in the post!
I'm very impressed with the clothing designs that you came up with! All of these models look like you put effort into each one of them.

The gender difference things serves two purposes - I prefer to draw women and it's an interesting way to get rid of them, for the most part. ; D
And I'm glad you dig the designs, Lar! Coming from you, it's quite encouraging.

Very, very good and interesting designs, both of the characteres themselves and their clothes!
I really the dark haired lady of the bottom, and of the pregnant woman with her baby are some of my personal favorites!

The pregnant lady is one of my favorites, too. I never drew a baby before! : D She's very busy. >: (

Thanks, IS!
I really don't think there was a direct inspiration for their looks or outfits - they're generally themed after Roman and anime 'fantasy' clothing - sort of very early European fashions with a weird slant to it. : ) There are some asian or Indian (from India) influences in there, too.
And thanks for asking about the gender issue! There ARE men in the Remnant universe - but there are statistically very few of them, maybe 1 for every 100 females. The way they're treated is different in terms of what culture you look at - Primeans employ them in their religion in order to ensure an orderly 'continuation of the people'... while in Helzig are more reckless and inhumane in their treatment, often with warlords possessing a man harem and someone's worth being measured in how many men they have under their control. In both cultures they are essentially used to procreate the species, but one is a little less openly humiliating than the other. ; )

You know, I'm almost 100% sure I'll end up stealing that idea if I ever explore the Helreign beyond 'spikey girls who get beat up a lot' ; D Though, the joke about the Prima/Helzig series is that their men tend to take up a traditionally 'feminine' role - they cook, clean, are seen as weak or in need of protecting, etc. Granted, this is not always the case, but many times (especially in our own culture) gender roles are taught, not innate. ; )
Primean men live relatively comfortable lives, as most of them are brought into the religion (either through a sense of duty or a high sum paid to parents to enroll their sons in the local house of worship) and while they are not really the head of it, they are an integral part of it.
And the gender irregularity is only among the sentient races of the planet - animals are unaffected. : ] The reason for it is unknown to the people of the planet (naturally, I know why ; D ) Damn it, Ironsides - all this chatting makes me want to actually DO something with it all. XD

Hah! XD She was meant to be my 'night life' girl, if there is such a thing in backwards fantasy cultures. ; )

In other words, they're the "Westerners". XD
Still, a very cool fleshing out of what I previously thought would be a throw-away "worf" culture to be fed to the Primeans. And rather modestly dressed to might I add for your usual stuff! ^_^

Hehheh! X ] I wouldn't necessarily say they're modeled as 'westerners' (though it might apply) but more like any people anywhere who think they've reach the apex of their culture - it's easier to look down on others when you believe you each earned their mutual places in the world just by virtue of where they were born. Like the Romans or English. I'm sure Africa and Asia would have examples, but I am not a scholar of their dynasties. ; )
I'm not sure I understand the 'worf' reference? From Star Trek? /: ) But I do try to at least make them feasible as people - and while bikinis and short skirts are nice, it'd get weird if the entire planet did it. XD

Whoops, left out this from the "worf" explanation:
So the first powerful entity's gobbled up and their strength was mostly just an informed attribute and their continued existence isn't relevant anymore. XP

Hehehe, except they're relatively democratic, diplomatic, meritocratic, tolerant, sensible and (I assume) culturally and ethnically homogeneous? Hmm sounds more like "Westerners + Modern Japanese" XP
But, if we're going by sheer "cultural posturing" projection, Africa had its Egyptian sovereignty and China was usually the premier cultural power in Asia until the Japanese caught the Imperial fever. Still, these nation states were never truly known (until perhaps recently, and even now they're suspect) as shining centres of social justice, having rather strict social class structures and hierarchies, clan politics, varied religions and associated infighting, a tendency to fracture into warlordism and a somewhat messy history of human rights abuses.
Oh y'know, the "worf effect" trope, you get an ostensibly powerful entity to fight another ostensibly powerful (more "evil") entity to show that the latter entity's a highly dangerous legitimate threat.
Well, not bikinis and short skirts all the time, but the very first impression I got of the population of your "mythos" was that they pretty much were the equivalents of Dalmasca [link]

That's the luxury of fantasy - you can take pieces of other cultures and explore what 'might have been'. The Primeans have a good idea (their religion and subsequent culture is mainly peaceful and focusing on self-improvement - more Asian influenced that that of the Abrahamic faiths) but human nature will always chip away at a virtuous principle. So, while there ARE good Primeans, they're still people, and we know how that works. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
