Description This piece was inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology. First, it represents the falcon form of Horus, protetcor of the Nile, and god who took the human form of pharoahs. In the foreground, there is represented the Feather of Truth, against which the god Thoth weighed the hearts of those entering the afterlife. Finally, there are the alligator jaws of the grotesquely gerrymandered Ammit, a female demon who devoured those whose hearts didn't weigh well against the Feather of Truth (causing them to have not much of a pleasant afterlife).

These remembrances of antiquity were created within a single flame in JWildfire 2.23, converted in GIMP for dA system-acceptable upload format.

Thank YOU for your kind sentiment my friend; glad it pleased your eyes. This year I'm trying to mix in some of history's global mythologies into my fractal surrealism...I think my best luck so far has been with ancient Egypt. Cheers!

I inherited a love for ancient cultures from my parents, I got to see Tut when in Chicago in the 70's.

So very glad it met your favor! Like some earlier JW fractals, this one took a few weeks, first flame-by-flame, all saved, then tweaking them in "Layerz" function...I left it a little dark trying to simulate the way Egyptian exhibits sometimes used to be displayed at the old Field Museum and Oriental Museum in Chicago. Cheers!

It's with great humility I thank you and the public for your appreciation; really, in remaining in dA I wish only to support unrestricted artists, encourage those who want to try art to explore options, and hopefully make viewers' days a little brighter. For me, JWildfire is a tool for my pale attempts in surrealism, but if one doesn't mind having JRE 7 or higher on their PC/laptop, with just a little practice they too could make such pieces as well as beautiful more "traditional" fractals. Thanks again for your kindness.

Thank you for your endorsement! JWildfire is regularly enhanced by its developer; last year he added among other things a feature called "Layerz"; with this, generally one can add JW (or Apo!) flames to an image-necessary amount (or limits of their CPU), each being shaped as the user desires, and when satisfactory JW renders the single resulting image; as well, recently added were affine and weight/gamma/gradient settings giving more granular control in "Mutagen" feature. Some of my pieces, like "Ex Nihilio", were the result of rendering nine separately worked JW flames into one image; others, like "Myths", start out as several worked JW flames, but when the best image is arrived at have only one image layer, the others just being black (and removable), leaving just a single image flame.

I blabbered on because you have a great fractal gallery yourself, and I'm always ready to go "oooh, you've gotta try JWildfire one day, because if I can make these things, imagine what you could do!". Thank you again, and cheers!
