Not at all, but the story is a little cheesy/cliche I think.^^'

This soldier is the one my other character, Favilla of my folklore series, is keeping under a spell to keep him from dying. (Normally he is seen half-awake/sleeping under her tree.)

He even actually got a name, but that's my secret.(I'm planning to do something about it so I'm keeping it to me.XD)

His story was that he was sent on the front during a war between two (Imaginary world) countries. He wasen't a soldier but had been recruited when the war started.(Era pretty similar to a mixed bettween WW1 and a war of the years 1700.) He got mortally wounded during the battle and, not wanting to take his last breath among the violence and gore of the battlefield, he fled to the near by forest to find a calm place where to die. And then Favilla found him and decided to save him.

I first had the idea of him after a french poem describing a dead soldier that seems asleep in a glade first but is in fact dead.

For the pic I though it would be nice to draw him again.XD

A lot of American Southern saying are odd or are rooted in dead terms.

One of my Dad's favorites was "If ifs' and buts' were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas."
One I like to use it "rode hard and put up wet"

For yours Dad favourite we have in one in french that has the same meaning I think. It's: Avec des "si" ont mettrait Paris en bouteille. (With "If's" we would put Paris in a bottle.")

One I like (and that represent well the spring here) is: En Avril on ne se decouvre pas d"un fil, mais en Mai faite ce que vous voulez. English: In April **do not take of your coat** (no real translation in eng here.)but in May do what you want.

Dumber than a road lizard-(In Florida we have lizards everywhere. They like to sun themselves on the tarmac and sidewalks)

Here the equivalent for 'dumber than a road lizard' is 'faire le chevreuil sur la route' (Do the deer on the road.)
We got a lot of deer crossing around and most of the time when accident happen it's because the deer wait at the last minute before jumping in front of the car...It's quite sad in way.

for the 'april" thing, it's because we often get some late snow and icy wind even if it's starting to get warm in april, so we tell the kids to keep their warmer clothes on or they will catch a bad cold. But normaly in May it's warm enough for us to trade our winter clothes for springs ones, so at that time the kids can weat whatever they want.
