Holy crap that is an impressive set you've put together. It looks so real it almost looks fake, to the point where I did a double take when I first looked! Truly amazing that you have put together such a masterpiece!

The shield was the first thing I tackled due to it being the scareiest part for me as well. My grandpa helped to make a mold of the reverse curve of the shield and then used about 1 1/2 sheets of worbla, layered to 3 to press it into the mold.
That's the very brief explination, sorry if it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Anything helps! Material is other thing that worries me because I don't have much experience making prop like parts of costumes. How do you like about worbla?

I really like worbla, it's more "home" friendly... but I think I should have just done fiberglass with the shield. The worbla did what I wanted to do, but it was really heavy and bondo doesn't like to adhere to it too much.
It has it's quirks... I think doing the full body torso in the worbla worked and I'm glad it had flex to it. The flex wasn't good for the shield. My shield weight about 15 lbs and I had to have my husband follow me carrying my props.

Oh wow! I would have never know these facts if it weren't you! I think I will experiment with few different things then to determind what to use.
I'm still bit lost wit the cross indent on the shield. I'm so new at prop stuff that I'm pretty nervous. Hope I can figure things out. I just don't have much means since I live in an apartment.
I really love the way your boots turned out btw! Don't suppose you have detail shots of those do you?

I would experiment. I did a lot of research on worbal before I chose it and while I have house, I needed something that was safe for us that lived in it. I couldn't do the fiberglass stuff in my basement, the fibers are not pet friendly. I would have had to build it somewhere else and it wasn't an option at the time.
I don't have any "close up" of my boots. I meant to upload this picture sometime ago, so that can show you a close up of my legs. :thumb358992649:

The setting was great, but also challenging. Rocks and armor = eat dirt. I was lucky to have people help me around in the rock pit.
