I tried the link myself and it took me to the main page quite quickly, so it should work.

Sorry if I sound confrontational, but I think you really, really need to improve that site's UX (user experience). It will take some time maybe but in the end it will pay off.
When I was in high school and everybody had 56k connections, images loaded really slowly and pixel row by pixel row.
Some computer-savy friends put up a promotional page for the local disco and you got a blank screen until the page ended loading and then it showed all at once. People were amazed, look at how neat that was!
Fast forward 10 years, connections are way faster, therefore if you see a "blank" page people (like trickyrusher up here) just think the page is not working. I only stayed because I noticed the scrollbar, tried to reach the end of the page and luckily the page ended loading before my mousewheel decided to be cooperative again.
This is going to lose you potential new members before they even see what the project is about.
You are also going to harm your placement in search engines, because spiders (the programs that crawl the Internet collecting page addresses) will see the huge loading time and rate you low. (More info on that if you do a google search for SEO, earch engine optimization).
First thing you can do, add a "LOADING..." writing. Or a loading bar. Make it clear what's happening. This is easy to implement and breaks nothing.
Second thing you can (and really should) do, use incremental loading. Have your page load first whatever is in the currently visible area, then preload all the rest. (Look for "Lazy loading" plugins).
Compress all your images and previews using compressors like compressor.io , reduce your loading times and maybe have placeholder niftly colored rectangles display where the images are going to be loaded, just to keep the structure of the page unaltered during the loading process. (Search google for "Skeleton UI patterns" or "Placehold patterns").
I hope this was useful.

Thanks for the feedback! You didn't come across as confrontational, so don't worry. Your points are completely valid. I'll forward this message to the developers.
