watercolor.huge art dump comin up. it is a portfolio i have been working on the whole year.... w/ the help of adderal... >.> that pill was absolutely SEXY.
The original concept of my concentration uses the form of sirens to illustrate a sense of deep seated emotion and beauty. I think of these obscure creatures as the embodiments of frivolity and vanity. By utilizing a plethora of colors and poses I have created a series of portraits and illustrations that describe the extent of their mannerisms, and the emotionall states as their surrounding aura.
As my idea matured i found that I could manipulate the mood of each painting by simply controlling my choice of color in spite of the constant hues of blue that dominate the backgrounds of the sirens. Medium toned colors such like images 4 and 12 represent a sense of tranquility, as opposed to the deeper tones in pieces 8 and 2 which express a sense of enigmatic intensity. The contrast between intense and subdued, carefree and grim, all serve to illustrate the multi-faceted emotional states of these creatures can offer.
