THis is a very adorable piece of work that not only shows a level of creativity in transforming such a character, but a good display of colouring that works truly with the design.
The appearance of the character in this chibi form is very nice and you seem to understand it a great deal. The design though does feel a little over powering with how the head takes full attention leaving the rest of the design to become hidden. While some can be see the comparisons of the head to the body just feel unfairly balanced and to perhaps next time allow a bit more of the lower half to be viewable clearer would be a nice thought.
Colouring is certain striking and the simple way of working with the shading and such warm appeal really go together nicely. This style is approach is very strong and should certainly be continued in later designs. In some areas it might be a thought to add some additional heavy highlighting, mainly around the hair and perhaps in some areas of the clothing, but not to over use it.
