i tried going for a soft look and tried anti-aliasing a bit
its quite hard i need some more practice with pixel art

i used the binary tool in paint tool sai ^^
and the animation is done on photoshop
i find that photoshop works much better with pixel art in general
but sai doesnt lag for me as compared to photoshop so i favor that

pixels are rather simple actually
theres plenty of tutorials if you search on DA
you can sketch your lines as always
and when you line after, you just use the pencil tool (ps)/ binary tool (sai)
and then the process is similar, you just use the binary tool to shade
instead of a using normal brush

oh? you might have improved, you never know! sometimes i get better
even without touching something for a while haha it sounds like bragging
since im practicing and improving in other areas when i draw normal art, becoming more
knowlegeable even... and that improvement extended to my pixel art, plus im becoming more
observant in general with time so dont get discouraged. not having worked on it for a long time
doesnt necessarily mean you got worse

I agree. Sometimes I do improve through other styles of art since I can sort of incorporate them.
Lately I've been seeing a lot of pixel art, so I decided to give it another go again. It's actually quite fun even though it's difficult at times. So I'm definitely going to keep at it and hopefully keep improving.
Plus, I'm still experimenting with my normal style so that'll probably change the pixel art as well.

yes, you never know where your pixels will go! years ago my pixels were ugly
but now even if they're not top-notch, they're kinda ok
so years later, youll be able to look back and say "oh hey, this pixels i was so proud of
are so normal now that i look at them! look at how much ive improved since then!"

Did you use an icon base for this? The face looks extremely similar to an old base
