Description Acrylic, 16X20 (on a much painted over canvas).

I wasn't initially sure about including this in the Jie series, but as I have lived with it for around ten months it seems to fit. I dislike the gratuitous use of skeletons, skulls, and the like (only in Epilepitica One have I deemed it fitting, by whatever internal and infernal criteria that clomps around within my psyche), and I was concerned that I found myself including one here, but certain world events following it's completion gave it an almost prophetic appropriateness.

Thanks for looking

This is beautiful. It's such a solemn, surreal painting. I have no idea about the tale behind it, but I love how the skeleton is standing and presumably leering at her...
I don't know why but I love her expression, tired, unamused, even guilty? She's not scared of the skeleton, nor is she in love with it which is often portrayed in paintings. She just accepts it.
The background it beautiful, it's so realistic, the fog and clouds are gloomy and somehow so perfectly natural.

...no wonder you have your own gallery! You're a real artist!

Your paintings are always so technically excellent. You have really mastered the art of painting. This one is beautiful as well. I like the color of the background.
What world events are you refering too. The Sunami? I noticed the wave in her painting. We have the first three paintings of the series in prints. I will have to get the rest to complete the series some day.

Your paintings are the epitome of the old adage "it's the little things that count"... beautifully rendered, each contain a host of nice little details that never seem gratuitous and add so much depth and portent to your imagery. Excellent work once again

Does Jie have a new hairdresser? I know exactly what you mean about including the skeleton..typically a turn off to me..but in this case, I must say that it works out beautifully. And knowing when you painted that and the events that sooned followed is a little spooky. In any event, it's another fantastic chapter in the continuing saga of Jie.

i quite like the concept of the cars tumbling down the wave like driving down a hill.

true, it's oddly fitting considering certain events.

the skeleton looks like it's made out of copper rather than bone..

Amazing as usual. I wish I could see these paintings in person. I cant imagine how anyone could paint anything like that in acrylic, the medium always feels so rough to me... yet you make it silky and watercolorish. Man.. you're good. lol

I love your Jie Xia series very much and yes, I think this one fits. I see this series as cycles, periods, changes, as life in many possible ways, because they have multiply symbolism for me. Yet I don't think that this is the end of series as some may think.

As always, I look with both an artists eyes and my own terrible sense of humor. As and artist, Danny it is wonderful, very flowing and great use of cool (green, purple and blue, not 'cool' like grovey) colors, and good circular eye movement from the viewers prespec.

As a weird humored soul, I keeping thinking how bad I feel for the skeleton who just got into the jacuzzi and now has to talk about art, not a moments rest even in death, damn painters. lol

Yes, I am a big weirdo...

Much huggy, painty love-
H
