Mortal Kombat Gender Swap #29 - Shao Kahn becomes...

Shae Kahn, Empress of Outworld. One of the most powerful, ambitious, and evil beings in existence, she spends her life conquering other realms through the Mortal Kombat tournament, and merging them to her own. A mistress not only of kombat, but also of mystical arts, and believed by some to be a demigoddess, she's considered responsable for the fall of entire civilizations.

Doing one of the series' most popular and important characters in the entire franchise, to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary! Happy b-day MK!

Okay, full disclosure: I'm aware that when talking about an "empress" people would expect a seductive femme fatal or something like that, so it might throw some people off to instead have a body-building type of woman... I considered making her a sexy girl, but ultimately I felt it wasn't true to the character. As I said in the bio, Shao Kahn is one of the most powerful characters, and he's also designed as one of the buffiest fighters, so I had to make a muscular woman. I don't see a Shao Kahn character having to get anything through seduction: if Shao Kahn wants something he/she just goes and gets it. I did try to still make her feminine though.

The outfit is based mostly on Shao Kahn's original appearance from MK2/MK3, but I did include some elements from subsequent games.

About the name I considered others like Shino Kahn, Shiko Kahn or Shia Kahn (this one I especially liked, but then I tought of Shia LaBeouf and couldn't do it any more); I considered changing the "Kahn" part as well, but that wouldn't be right, since Kahn is a title, not an actual name. I believe in real life the title "Khan" used to be masculine, while its feminine counterpart was "Khanum", but I felt "Kahnum" didn't sound feminine in the MK made up name system, so I preferred to leave it "Kahn" and change the first name.

One last note about the bio: I wanted to maximise her greatness, so I even mentioned the demigoddess thing. That comes from the awful second movie, MK Annihilation, but also Shao Kahn's bio from MK vs DC Universe. I know both are non-canon, but in the games he's known to be thousands of years old, and according to combined info from MK4, Mythologies and Armageddon, he might even be millions of years old, so I thought being a demigod is a valid explanation. I did say it's only a theory though.
