About IkaninuiPronunciation: Ee - kah - knee - neu
Koninui people, as a whole, are merpeople that reside near untouched parts of the oceans. They tend to gather near uninhabited islands with shallow reefs (where they have been know to make small villages and trading centers.) Koninui can exist on land, but if the air is too dry, they'll be forced to return back to the water in only a few hours.
Their skin is very smooth and slimey, void of any hair or scales. They must keep their body and skin hydrated and healthy to avoid disease and parasites.
All Koninui do not give live birth, instead, they produce two or three eggs after being fertilized. These eggs are kept in caves, or the mother can choose to make a bag to carry them around in. All koninui are hermaphroditic and can change their sex at will. This usually only changes their sexual organs, and not their body type.
Ikaninui are known as soft shell Koninui because they lack the outer cartilage of their counterpart, Kaninui. They are incredibly soft and delicate and they usually have no means to defend themselves; however, they are incredibly fast swimmers. This is because of a large hole located on their back that expels water they take in through the mouths on their face. It jets them forward quickly, allowing them to slip away from most predators.
They also have a mouth located on their abdomen. This is the mouth they use primarily for eating, and the mouth on their face is used for talking and sometimes biting. It's a left over evolutionary trait.
About Traits
Antenna (Optional)
Can be any shape or size, and can be placed anywhere on the top of the head.
Stomach Teeth
Just a small variation from normal teeth.
Hair
Hair can be any length/style. Like Kaninui, it can be cut (though it does cause pain), but it will be able to grow back.
Back Traits (Optional)
Cerata
Basically the tendril type things you find on the back of sea slugs. Can be placed anywhere on the back.
Squid Tentacles
Can be placed anywhere on the back of their body, or on the back, bottom part of their head.
Slug Tail
Can be any size or thickness.
Manta Ray Wings
Can be any size.
Ikaninui Anatomy and Design ChecklistIf you're designing one, then you need to follow these rules.
- No breast, naval or nipples. Regardless of gender.
- Four fingers, three toes (all in the front, they are webbed.)
- Mouth on the abdomen.
- Back spout.
- Absolutely no sclera is shown, their eyes are always one color.
- They have sharp, jagged and uneven teeth.

- Updated bits of lore.
- Edited the anatomy. Removed a finger and fixed the feet. Also removed the gills.
- Removed the transparent body and bioluminescence traits. That doesn't mean you can't use them, in fact, use them all you want! They're just not listed anymore.
- Removed the eye color trait and the teeth color trait. Both were redundant.
- Added different back traits!
IF YOU HAD AN EXISTING KONINUI BEFORE THE UPDATE, THEN YOU ARE DEFINITELY ALLOWED TO CHANGE THEIR ANATOMY TO FIT THE NEW ANATOMY.
HOWEVER, YOU CAN CANNOT CHANGE THE TRAITS ABOVE! YOU CAN ONLY REMOVE OPTIONAL TRAITS.
