They're supposed to be on top of Las Noches... but it didn't really work out. X_X
But that' s what those tubes are.

I like that Ulquiorra is staring at Orihime's hand. He is most likely contemplating over what a heart is and as we know, he discover that in his last chapter through her. The whole piece is beautiful, but I really like the concept you did!

I don't think there's anything wrong with fan pairings. It gives you a new outlook on the characters, and sets different moods. It's cool to think of what ifs. Y'know?
Though there's nothing wrong with not liking them either. I'm glad you like my picture though.
