I'm not sure. I've heard that this are (both sides) some electronic warfare equipment, but what exactly does it mean? I don't know.

as far as I know, that bulge out there is the radar.

Powstał na bazie Boeinga 707, który zabierał około 200 pasażerów. Specyfiki nadaje mu radar, który wydaje się być kruchy i niedopasowany, ale właśnie w tym tkwi potęga tego samolotu.

Dzięki za info. Takie dopiski powinieneś podawać pod pracami. Fajnie jest się dowiedzieć to i owo o rzeczach, na których się człek nie zna.
