This is an old plane. The technology is outdated for the modern warfare, but looks good. Its wings can change angles (30-63 degrees). Its production began in 1984. She a light bomber. Su-22 was made to fly low (below radars) and fast to drop bombs and escape. She can carry anti-air missiles, but is not well prepared for a fighter role.

W końcu to już prawie emeryt, więc burzliwe przygody już powinny być poza nim.

I wonder if light combat variant of M-346 will replace Su-22M4 of PAF completely.

I don't think so. The PAF was interested in buing old F-16 and upgrade it to a modern standard, but it appeard to be too expencive. It is most probable that PAF will buy new F-16. Some people talk about F-35, but the price is too high. We need about 50 planes.
The M-346 program has got some problems. Poland received first two planes, but the weapon simulators does not work properly. The planes are waiting for an upgrade. The PAF considered combat variant of M-346, but it was not the best choice (very limited range of weapons and low capacity). Now, when the problems with trainers occur, the chances for combat version of M-346 are much lower.

I wonder if this is the reason why Raytheon withdrew contract of M-346 for T-X program this January. As far as I know, Singapore is the first country to receive the full batch of M-346 completely and last year Israel got their full batch to replace TA-4s. However, I don't know if they were interested in the weapon simulators because Singapore received their batches before M-346 officially entered service in Italy.
Another trainer, T-50 Golden Eagle was another competitor for PAF's trainer program. While T-50 is faster and more maneuverable than M-346, it lacked refueling probe (while T-50A for T-X program has installed flying boom type probe in 2016) and reliable radars. However, one of the major advantages of T-50 is that tandem-seat training variants of fighters (like F-16D) are almost unnecessary as pilots who completed T-50 training can move onto fighter training directly.
I wonder if there will be more trainer designs to be made in the future since there aren't too many up-to-date designs around the world and some are in hostile territory to NATO.

In my opinion problems between Raytheon and Finmeccanica were much more complicated. Some of the problems with weapon simulators are already solved but with another generation of software. Due to legal problems the new software cannot be used in PAF M-346. I do not know exactly what kind of problem there is, becouse Polish Ministry of Defence does not want precisely to inform about it.
I think, that after T-X program there will be very little space for another trainer plane. Maybe in a longer period some cooperation between France, Germany, and United Kingdom will create a new trainer, but I am skeptical about it.
