I've never taken a water shot like this before because I thought them to be cliche. Well here is my cliche shot.Somebody said that they would have liked to see more lichen, more color in this. How about this raw shot ? This one is posted at my Flickr page, completely unedited

I love it.. I like water shots like this.. i have to ask how is the water so soft like that.. i always wonder.. is it something done after the shot is taken or is something you are doing manually with the camera?

why are the rocks a little blurry? did u use a tripod for this?

I didn't have a tri-pod at my advantage when I saw this. So I leaned against a rail and held my breath. Another reason that they are a little blurry is because this is zoomed in and the rocks weren't the focal point, the water was.

why do artists think that because something is cliche they shouldn't take a picture of it? i don't feel that this should be the case - especially in nature. when you are taking a picture of nature, of course it could be considered cliche because we see it every day. we know what our world looks like and we know what to expect when we see something like this. it's all about how you interpret the art and what you get from it. you have read between the lines, i suppose. here, i like the shot because it is artistic and a good photograph. i don't dislike it because it could be considered cliche, so i'm sorry that you feel that this is.
however i do look forward to seeing more shots like this from you. i enjoy nature so much - it's one of the only nature resources out there that can inspire.

Still, this is a nice shot though. I love the motion of water for some reason. There is a below-water dam near my home that I have wanted to take a shot of for some time like this..
in any case, I like it.

Its a dam like you would find on a lock on a river.. it sorta creates a shallow angle waterfall.
