Description I know I just uploaded a similar shot from a recent wedding, but I wanted to show the selective coloring in this one. Normally I hate selective color. Not every photographer knows when to use it and when not to use it. Just pick up a local wedding vendor magazine and you will see what I mean.

I think this application of selective color works because you aren't taking the attention to any odd place in the frame, you aren't drawing attention near the bride's chest instead of her eyes, and it's not overwhelming or too little. I personally think it works here.

What do you think? Do you like selective color? In what applications?

Selective colour can be brilliant, it can be tacky and overused. I think this is obviously the former. I almost think it would look better with just the petals in colour, but thinking about it, it would unbalance the shot, and I like it how it is. It's also good quality editing, you see a lot in magazines etc that's shoddy and messy.

I know what you mean. I can't stand seeing bad art in magazines. Everytime I say, "man, they haven't seen deviantART"

I think also using the selective coloring on the rings would work very well in this shot, since they are in the same line as the roses, so it keeps the viewer's eye drawn to that line despite being broken up by the hands

Amazing as is, though!

That is a good idea, but since the rings are white gold, it wouldn't be that much difference if they were in color

I think it DOES work here, it brings the focus out on the roses, and it looks lovely.

You're right, I agree that selective colour here is a great choice, sp because of the meaning and because it has a very romantinc feel. I love it =3
