because many people liked the sketchversion of that old photography depicting the young couple of cave johnson and caroline i decided to enhance it, so that it is detailed enough to be a stand-alone-fanart on it's own (i already posted the rough sketch and the picture was slightly visible in the fanart piece called "i don't want this!").this old new fanart is called "she is a gem.", which is another quote from in-game. this time from cave johnson, describing his assistant caroline. hope you like this old leftover out of the aperture lab's.

yeah, well - i had some reference photos from the time for
the clothing and gesture/pose, it's been some time, so i can't

It's so perfect in the way it captures those early days of Aperture Science. You get the feeling of that time of innocence, confidence, when the science was what mattered and it didn't matter how many mantis men or time traveling test subjects you created would get you down.

That contest actually was last year. It didn't but the winner was pretty good.
My two complaints were the depiction of Caroline in the 1950's sphere and the robots in the 1980's. Caroline's outfit was from her 1970's days (iconic, but historically inaccurate). The dress you used in "She is a Gem" was spot-on.
And in the 1980's the robots were *replacing* the Aperture workers, not doing the actual testing. Humans were. And from the signs we saw the 'bots were obviously more human looking than the animated ones.

This is very probably one of my favourite pieces of fanart ever, in any franchise. It's not just the mind-blowing details, wonderful shading and photographic realism, its the perfectly captured moment of intimacy - it's just so beautiful. Seriously, Caroline's face is so gorgeous, and the way Cave's holding her hand is just

i don't know if i understand you correctly, but you can use my art as a reference and "copy" / "redraw" it, putting a link to the original image (my art) in your description would be kind - that's not really stealing art. just don't post my images and say it's done by your own or copy the character pose and everything without providing a link to the original piece or original author.
