At first glance, Asuka does not look like someone with the power of the Yakuza behind her small fists. Even more hardly, someone that holds a high rank in one. Though her face and demeanor is kind, it is almost all due to her excellence in customer services that allow her to keep up the facade to mask her curt and un-cute way of actually talking to people.
Having grown largely independent, Asuka is comfortable with making fast-paced decisions involving her work-life and personal-life, often not looking too far into the future when making her decisions. She lives her life in the present and immediate future and has a hard time comprehending what life may throw at her in the long-term future, which she finds nothing wrong with.
She speaks to everyone in a detached and respectable manner, referring to them as their role and surname unless the situation does not call for such titles to be addressed. Hardly would you find her referring to someone with their first name.

[ History ]
Asuka was born to an extremely young couple that had irresponsibly ran away to elope. Given that both of her parents were inexperienced in both life and child-rearing, the two scraped their small family by on the bare minimum. Both reassuring the other that all they needed to be happy was each other and Asuka. But after much hardship and many arguments later, the couple realized that the adjustments needed to make or break their lavish but cheap lifestyle was too much for the both of them to handle.

Asuka’s mother was the daughter of one of the many uprising textile and fashion industries, SHIZUKA, which ironically, was branded in her name. Shizuka was headstrong, and did everything at her own pace despite her father’s wishes. The two often fought about meals, clothing, dating, everything really. It was during her most rebellious months that she met with Asuka’s father, an aspiring young chef learning under a foreigner. His name was Shiraishi, Hiroki.

The two argued like cats and dogs, the young chef scolding the young heiress to take her work seriously and the heiress telling the chef to mind his own business. One thing led to another- and one shot glass led to many more until finally, the two reckless young adults woke up in a bed together in an unfamiliar room. Hastily they departed the location separately, agreeing to never meet up and never speak about the incident. This agreement was kept until the young heiress appeared at the chef’s doorstep out of the blue like a storm.

“I need to speak with you.” Her posture was stiff, arms crossed, foot-a-tapping.

And just like that, both of their lives became terribly knotted together as Shizuka led the poor young chef on a express rollercoaster to fatherhood.

The first few years, though rocky, were the smoothest years of their relationship. Shizuka had sold off all of her possessions in order to invest in Hiroki’s dream of opening a restaurant. The three of them were unorthodox, but happy. Both parents spoiled their daughter rotten with gifts. After several more years, things were going a little too well considering Hiroki’s restaurant wasn’t too popular and Shizuka was a stay at home mother. The two recklessly continued on despite the worry, until one day the domino effect of SHIZUKA’s bankruptcy led debt collectors to their small family’s door.

“I-.. I don’t understand.. The company could never be this far in trouble.” Shizuka’s voice trembled as she wept to Hiroki after hearing the circumstances the company went through after she abandoned her father. Not long after she announced her marriage and left, Shizuka’s father was exposed for laundering money between contracted companies. To pay back the deficits, he sold off everything he owned and threw himself into gambling, swearing confidently that he’d make it big and win back everything he lost. Ambitious, to say the least, and also reckless, as any earnings he did make brought him deeper into his newly acquired gambling addiction.

As the small family struggled to help Shizuka’s father pay off his debts and help him get back on his feet, the family soon found itself stuck in a quick-sinking bog. Unable to live with the guilt, Shizuka’s father drank himself six feet under which placed Shizuka as the next in line for loan sharks to hassle. After dealing with them for years, and worried for Asuka’s safety, the two sent her to live with Hiroki’s parents in the country-side, hoping she can escape the dangers of the loan sharks.

It was mid-highschool when a dark vehicle parked in front of Asuka’s highschool and she was informed of her mother’s death and father’s declining health. Not knowing how to help her father and not wanting to continue this dangerous cycle of debt-collecting, Asuka did what the debt-collectors wanted and took up the remainder of the debt in her name. In exchange, her father and his parents would be left alone and they would come directly to her for the money.

Soon after, Asuka finished her high school years and declared she was returning to the city and that there was no need to worry about her. Forfeiting her desire to go to college, Asuka took up several part-time jobs in order to make the monthly payments to the debt collectors. She kept all of her possessions in a rented locker, and slept at co-worker’s houses for awhile. It wasn’t until she applied to a new cafe that popped up that she officially met with the Hanayama Head, Yuito who had seen her several times before at her numerous odd jobs.

At first, her role at the cafe was simply a waitressing job, but after noticing the difficulty that upper management had with handling their money and expenses, she offered (out of the kindness of her heart, and also the need for this job) to help. Though she had to self-teach herself the majority of the skills she needed to help them run the cafe financially, they were able to keep the cafe afloat. As the years flew by working under him, she grew the trust of Yuito and not long after, received an offer from him to Join the Yakuza. In taking his offer, he would pay off the remainder of her debts for her valuable money-handling skills. As her job at the cafe moved more towards handling money, Asuka later gets asked to handle family money, though she’s not sure why she’s trusted with something this important, Asuka naively agrees to take on the secretarial duties for Hanayama, soon landing her a promotion as Hanayama’s youngest Lieutenant.
