Description Pyotr and Kira Danilov.

Hee, there's nothing better than having an older brother who's taller than you. Mostly because they can reach the good stuff on the really high up branches that you can't...

Maybe she'll even share a bite or two.

But wasn't more easy for her to stand up on two legs and grab one?

I noticed the mare is dressed in the concept I see in Donna Barr's half-horses. (I always thought that was a little strange: the human half is covered for modesty, but the mare's butt end is still exposed. That's the way it is. )
Anywho, I like this. Very nice job. I'm a centaur nut....esp. if the horse/human halves are proportional. (In my art, I TRY.... )

*laughs* Aw, I've known Donna a long time, and she's got beautiful work. She's awesome, years ago, she sat me down and spent a good amount of time explaining to me about torso, body, and leg, a critique I've always appreciated and never forgotten. Flat out. She's a heck of a person and artist.

I honestly think there is no one who draws centaurs better, with the motion, the proportion, and the elegance to the characters. I'll be the first to admit, there are a lot of artists who do beautiful horse bodies, and not so good on the human half (ha, I think I fall into that category, sometimes) and others that can do the human, but the horse-half looks like crud. Donna's able to do both. Rare talent.

*grins* I admit, even though this particular culture is based loosely on early Russian nomadic culture and some of the taboos on exposing yourself in public... (not to mention the weather, ha ha...)The main reason they're dressed is because I uh, well, it's because I just like the idea of the quirk of embarrassment on the human torso, but not on the horse end, ha! It makes them somehow a little more down to earth to me, and easier to relate to.

Thank you, though!

1.) elegance with the centaur chars....you're so right. Donna "taught" me (by reading example) how to draw centaurs (gasp! Half-horses, lest Stinz want to pound me!). It kinda rubbed off on me. She's a cool gal, and says what she thinks. I like her style. (And her Udo character in the Desert Peach cracks me up).
2.) The human clothing but bare butt-end just reminded me of Donna. Funny how we got that in common, you and I "knowing" Frau Barr (well, I talk to her by email once in a while, that is... ) What are the odds? I like your style too. And the colors of these two centaurs. The shading on the filly. Just awesome. Has Donna seen this? you oughta link it to her if you haven't. you DO know she's on here, right? Rummelhart.
Everything you said you hit right on the nose. My human half sucks more than the horse half. Ya know why? I dont' draw humans well, cause I like animals better. They don't judge, and if they get uppity, it's for a good reason. (usually) And they love unconditionally (if treated right). You draw what you love.
I enjoyed your reply very much. Thank you for responding. Many don't or just say "hey thanks, whatever". This was a treat. (I send Donna funny emails and tell her hubby Dan to behave himself [actually he's a pussycat, SHE needs the advice ] and she gives me some advice too.)

*laughs* Yes, it is similiar, isn't it! It's the Russian spelling of the name, actually.

Nope, I know Russian! (Well, getting there slowly, I hope. I'm on the learning curve, I'm afraid) I'd love to know more Polish just so I could have said thank you to you in it without messing up.

*grins!* But thank you, regardless of language, hee!

*laughs* Aw, he's supposed to be like at that awkward stage of a yearling horse (colt-teenager, hee.) So, yes, you're absolutely right - he's a little gawky and hasn't filled out quite yet, on hip or body. Things have to catch up for him!

Same with his sister, who's got those little knobby knees going on. I'm sure she falls on her face a lot at this stage.

*grins* Aw, shoot, I wish I knew more Polish...
