From the fairytale, 'The Story of Grandmother.' An oral told version dating further back then the Brother Grimms or Perrault's version. Very different ending to the famous wolf eats LRRH version. Would recommend you read it!

i brought this book; "The Annotated Classic Fairy Tales"
by Maria Tatar [link] from amazon which had a lot of the classic fairytales with annotations beside them. It goes into a lot of detail, it also has all three versions of little red riding hood (grimms, perrault and the one from above) and i'm sure that when reading through the other tales they will mention differing versions of them.
