Say hello to one of the most psychopathic, violent, psychologically unstable, and spiritually tormented soldiers this side of the universe.
SPECTER stands for Spectraly Enhanced Combatant as Tactical Engagement Resource.

Specters are usually (volunteers are not unheard of) made from generally dangerous individuals of multiple species, brands and varieties. Criminals, gangsters, death row inmates, rapists, murderers, and the douchebags from 4chan (XD, jk. )

Their enhancements range from cybernetic implants, biological alterations, genetic modification.
Weapon implants, (Spectral lightning arm blade, and an imcomplete SPC-451 rifle in this example), 1000-ish years worth of combat experience/ brainwashing delivered via a REAPER System , shadow crystal based spinal implant that beams literal shadow demons into their mind/body. (This is why they're so grumpy. :c)

Oh, and their insides have been replaced with Spectra reservoirs, they're powered by it. (Spectra is an amazing resource in this universe, collected from everywhere, however, its strongest in sentient/sapient creatures.)
Really strong stuff, (this be sum dank sh*t yo.) On the extreme end of the scale, one drop of _absolutely_ pure Spectra has the capacity to power a city for eternity. (Hard as hell to pull off though)

Evidently, the spectra inside these poor bastards is not that strong, but it's still makes them extremely dangerous.
Energized, this stuff simmers at a cool 352 degrees Celsius, making their outer flesh hot as hell .
Once they die, or once they are close to death, the converters inside them overload themselves into a nasty feedback loop, causing the spectra to "combust" (It's not a traditional explosive/ flammable actually...) in a wild, uncontrolled explosion. Its a hideous waste of resources, and kinda stupid from an engineering standpoint, but it feels a bit like a Scorched Earth tactic.

Project: SPECTRA is a sort of epic universe story-thing spun off from Rainbow Factory involving an enormous galaxy-spanning war (?) feuding demon clans, ponies, humans, various alien species, literal spiritual combat, and a whooooooole bunch of other things of varying levels of screwed up.

I incubated it (more like pressure cooked.) for around 2 years in my head...
