++FULL VIEW PLEASE!!!++I´m in the middle of my exam period... and as always, inspiration strikes at the weirdest times x"D Lovely <33
Anyways, She´s a bitch, but She provided this picture of one of my favourite pairings lately: Doumeki (left) and Watanuki (right), from the manga XXX Holic by CLAMP *__* My sister insists the pic has a Subaru/Seishirou look in it that shouldn´t be there... ;o; and why not??
The kimono work was the hardest, but the most fun ^o^ Doumeki´s didn´t come out as I had in mind... also, I used refs for both kimono patterns (from Yahoo Japan auctions)
Tools: mech pencil, Pilot inkpens, Letraset Promarkers, Pilot white pen.

I really like the ambiance of this piece. There's a sort of melancholy to it, and the more you look at the drawing, the more you feel it. Maybe it's because of Watanuki's expression, half-hidden by the bands covering his eye, as if the boy were caught in a sad dream; or maybe it's because of the intensity of Doumeki's stare as he watches Watanuki's figure, apparently deep in thoughts.
The composition is awesome too. Doumeki exudes protectiveness, his crouched stance a proof that he will move quickly to defend his friend from whatever thing wants to harm him. The twisted branch that seems to separate them is contradicted by the thin string wrapped around their hands: their bond is stronger than it looks and it won't be broken by little obstacles.
Of course, I can't help but admiring the colouring. The kimonos are truly beautiful. So detailed! Doumeki's must have taken quite some time. I also love your choice of colours. The use of black, red and yellow on both boys' outfits creates a feel of unity, of complementarity, while the smoky purple background and the brown of the trunk make the characters stand out.
At first I found it kind of funny that Watanuki would be the one with a bow instead of Doumeki-the-skilled-archer, but I must admit that the latter looks good with a katana. I bet he even know how to use it. And who knows what could happen to clumsy Watanuki if he had an unsheathed katana in his hands... 
The only thing I would improve is the thread tying Doumeki to Watanuki. I think I would have like it better if it were a dark red. It would have caught the eye easily, and since you already used red in your drawing, it would blend in nicely. But if your intention was to let the bond between them subtle, then it's perfectly fine as it is.

First of all, I have to thank you for taking the time to look at my pic and write such a long comment, I really appreaciate it.
This pic conveys most of the theories I had at that time about Watanuki and Doumeki´s relationship, and it´s amazing to see how well you were able to catch the subtle details, even the ones I placed without really knowing why.

Its beautiful!!!!!1 DouWata, DoNuts, 104...whatever you call it its always my fav pairing!!! And I love the kimonos--it does have a bit of a SeiSub vibe but its cute! How come Watanuki's the one with the bow--not that he doesn't look nice with it and I'm sure Doumeki knows how to use a sword too!
