I felt like drawing some Gravity Rush fan art again, so I drew Kat and (part of) Raven! Kind of bummed about the remastered collector’s edition situation, since that makes it much harder to get my own Kat figma... ヾ(´・ ・`。)ノ”

No words can describe how hyped I am to get that game. It is like I could sit down and do nothing but play the game over and over and over again until some god like power stoped me

So yeah, I am...you know... a bit excited

Thanks; I'm trying my best to work with colour whenever I can, since I still need to get more confident with colours haha.

Same, although I hope they change their minds about the digital only for NA, and release the collector's edition in NA eventually. As a figure collector as well, I'd really like the Kat figma lol.

Man, I honestly can't get over how much I enjoy your art. I don't know what to do about it. Can I buy something from you? Do you do commissions? I'm not into Patreon but I want to give you something. Maybe that will let out some of this real, genuine awe.

Thanks! I sometimes take commissions but because I'm in my thesis year, it's difficult to find time to take up commissions unless I'm on break. I have a print shop at www.inprnt.com/gallery/ccadave… , but the shipping tends to be a little expensive since they ship them flat (though I can certainly vouch for the quality of the print, paper, and packaging). However, they hold free shipping weekends every now and again, which I usually make an announcement for, so you could always wait until then!

Damn, that means I need to pick a favourite. That's gonna be difficult T_T

You only have 10 prints available there? No Nausicaa or Ghibli art?!? No way I can get one of them printed?

Koyorin In reply to KittenIgnition [2015-12-26 19:08:54 +0000 UTC]

If you're willing to wait until mid-January, I can make a custom print (or multiples) for you on matte or on watercolour paper (though the price will have to account for the prints + materials + shipping).

KittenIgnition In reply to Koyorin [2015-12-27 19:07:08 +0000 UTC]

Heck yes! January is perfect! It can be a special birthday present for myself, for being such a good boy in 2015

Sadly, you have no classic Nausicaa work, or I'd buy that up in a heartbeat. Is there any way for you to do more specialized prints, or are you not that into printing? I got another artist to do a massive canvas print, and he added that to his store, but he's kinda big on Etsy so it makes sense for him. I paid quite a premium for it and would again, if possible.

Custom printing is only a case-by-case thing, so I won't be adding it to any stores or anything (I'm a full-time university student in my final year, so unfortunately I don't have enough time to do that regularly).

I have my fair share of experience with printing, though canvas would be more complicated. The more common paper that people pick is 140lb cold press watercolour paper, which is textured yet retains sharp details; but because I have to ship it flat, it becomes somewhat pricier the larger it is (though poster tubes are no joke either; can potentially be much more expensive to ship).

Do you perchance know the difference between the rolled up vs. flat prices? I'm getting posted to put underneath the glass on my desk, so they get compressed and them being all rolled up isn't an issue at all. If I were to get a canvas print I would put it on my wall tho, next to my badass Princess Mononoke print from Barrett Biggers. It's pretty pimp, yo.

Koyorin In reply to KittenIgnition [2015-12-29 05:08:35 +0000 UTC]

Well, it also depends on the size of the print; I made a fairly large inkjet matte print at 18x24 and had to mail it to the UK via poster tube, and it cost almost $50 CAD (by land; air would cost $68).

I recently mailed some flat watercolour paper prints in 14x20 packaging to the States and it was around $12 CAD. The online calculator for price estimates is pretty accurate, so getting a preliminary estimate shouldn't be too difficult.

Regarding choice of packaging, it mostly depends on the paper stock, and then secondly, the size of the print. If it's on watercolour paper, I won't be rolling it because it will be difficult to straighten. If it's on inkjet matte/a lighter stock, it's a thinner stock so either tube or flat is fine, but tube would only be for a large print that can safely take the rolling (and would also be excessively expensive by shipping flat).

Oh shit, that's right, you're in Canada aren't you? I live in Toronto, I don't know where you are or what shipping is to/from, but shipping in Canada should be easier.

I don't know if I explained my plans; basically, i have a desk with a sheet of glass on top. I'm making a sort-of collage of artwork I collected, from Anime North and some stuff I got online. Because it's under a huge chunk of glass and then all my stuff on top, the art being rolled up matters absolutely not at all. That would be for a "normal" large-sized print, of around 18-24" tall. If canvas or cloth of some kind isn't doable then that's what I'd go with: a large paper print, rolled up. That would be somewhat regrettable though, as I said earlier your art is by far the nicest I've seen, and I don't want to spoil it by having something on top of it in my desk. Hell, I'd get something on canvas and another on paper just to have more of it.

Anyway, uh... The deciding factor is if it's at all possible to do a canvas print, I'd frame the hell out of a couple different pieces even, but if it's only paper then rolling it up doesn't matter, and I'll be going with that.

Well, paper would be more convenient at the moment lol. I have to experiment with canvas a bit later, but right now paper is best.

I live in Toronto as well, so shipping shouldn't be too much/take too long.

I guess paper it is. If you ever start trying canvas, you should hit me up. Or announce it somewhere and I'll hit you up, since canvas prints are $$$$.

Also, maybe we could forego shipping altogether, since we're in the same city.

Send me a note with which pieces you're interested in!

With in-person meetings, I can only arrange to meet at OCADU. With classes, I don't get a lot of time to go anywhere else, so that's the only way I can deliver a print in person.

If you draw something from Nausicaa or Tales of Symphonia in the next couple weeks, I'll be taking that. Until then, I can't really decide tbh. I'll know when I'm back in town.

I love Gravity Rush, once you got a hold of the controls and unlocked some powers, the movement was really fun.

I hope it translates well with the remaster (control wise), I'll pick it up for sure, and awaiting the sequel.

Kat is cute here, wish we could see more of Raven.

Yeah, I feel like Gravity Rush didn't get a lot of attention at first, so I'm glad that it's coming back with the remastered version and a sequel.

Tomorrow I'll have another angle of this picture done, with Raven visible instead of Kat lol.
