Not sure if is Surtr or another jotun, from the norse myths... I´m not specially expert about viking mythology, but I think that the cosmic-scatological final war and end of the worlds (the Ragnarök and/or the Göterdammerung) it looks like an archetypical fight betwen fire and ice, in an eternal cicle of creation and destruction of the worlds, the living beings, the Aesir, and all creatures of the nine realms... Like an nietzschean eternal return...
