One of my sisters took me to see Beauty and the Beast the musical for my birthday about a month ago, and I haven't been able to stop doodling the characters. For those who don't know, these two are from Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas. It's an excellent sequel, and you really should check it out.
I’m pretty sure that Fife was one of my first fictional crushes. I was only 3 when this came out, so Forte is the first Disney villain that I remember, and what a great introduction to the world of fictional villainy. He’s egotistical, funny, horrible, loud, and terrifying. Everything that I like to see in a cartoon villain.
I didn’t care for their human designs in the movie, so I tweaked their outfits and designs a bit. Basically I drew Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. I would really love to see Benedict portray Forte, and Martin Freeman always needs to be his partner-in-crime until the day they both retire. You just can’t have one without the other. Feel free to add Sherlock references in the comments.
This took five days to complete. Mainly because I kept getting distracted with Family Guy and Benedict Cumberbatch videos. Fife was easy. Fife was no problem at all to make. I cried while coloring Forte in. I had to try self motivation. It was intense.
The sheet music featured is Davy Jones’s theme from Pirates of the Caribbean. musescore.com/user/32517/score…

This is so cool! Never thought of Benedict playing Forte. Tim Curry will alway be the original voice, but who could realistically portray the maestro in all his (physical) likeness? Hmm...

I definitely think that with his long, thin face and high cheekbones, Benedict would be the best option to play Forte.

True. It's not like he's never villainous roles before (Star Trek)

His character in Star Trek was kind of boring. I was thinking more along the lines of Smaug.

Oh yeah, forgot about that too. Ooh, that was amazing! He'd be a perfect fit for Forte's role!

I really do love your drawing technique. All the characters I've seen from you so far are easily identifiable yet unique in their appearance. All great cartoonists have their own special style of drawing that sets their work apart from anyone else's and you certainly have developed a very clean and consistent style. Bravo!
For me, Capt. Hook was my first Disney love but all my lust for the pirate ended the instant I heard Forte's clever smart-ass remarks in that oh-so silky, sexy voice that only Tim Curry can produce.
I've always tried to look past the "cartoonish" level of the character and see him as he would have been, if he was "real life". Once I go there, I find him not to be necessarily a villain, but rather an lonely, eccentric artist, who probably had a serious case of Merinthophobia (fear of being bound or tied to something) before the enchantment occurred, as well as being a bit of a misanthrope to boot.
Fife, I think is much more simpler and I don't mean that in a negative way. He's just more honest with himself, and with others. He tries not to complicate things and tries to make everyone feel good, including his mentor Forte. Well that's my 2 cents.

Sorry for the late reply!
I appreciate your comment so much! I've read it a million times, and screenshotted it. As much as I love the regular, "This is so cute!" comments, I especially love comments like this that let me know that you like this for my art, not just for the characters that I'm drawing. On a drawing of two characters that are kind of obscure, a comment such as this is especially surprising and touching. You made my work day that much brighter when I opened this up on my break!
I agree somewhat about Forte. Up until he decides to kill everyone in the castle, including himself, he was not a villain. Bit of a jerk, definitely, but not a villain up until the last part. I actually found him to be quite relatable.
I absolutely love Fife. I love those sweet little sidekicks (be it hero or villain) that are everything that the main character isn't. It's always such a nice compliment. That's actually a big reason why I chose the actors for Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as the inspirations for my designs. In real life, I think that Forte and Fife would actually have quite a bit of a Sherlock and John relationship. Forte pretty much being married to his work, being the definition of a recluse. Then there's Fife, who is always personable, who always has a compliment for Forte even though most don't. I really love the idea.

I just call it like I see it. Whenever someone I haven't seen before posts something, I check out their other work to see if there is a consistency in their style that is attractive at look at and uniquely their's and you absolutely have that quality. I hope you keep drawing for as long as can even if for nothing else than your own satisfaction.

I agree. His story is better developed. That being said, I love Gaston, but Forte is easier to relate to.
