He couldn’t help but slouch in the corner of the grymnasium. Really, did they expect him to do more than that? Yes it was the Howliday Dance, the last school event before the Howliday Break. Yes, it was the last chance for them all to hang out before everyone went their separate ways for the Howlidays; Betty was headed back to the bayou, Chad had his dad, Grave went…wherever he went, and he was headed back to the fae realms to be with his mom like usual. He wasn’t looking forward to it, but what other option did he have. He knew his friends only meant well by dragging him here, but really, he was just getting tired of it all.
“Is this a private pitty party, or can anyone join?”
He looked up surprised by the voice at first. Standing in front of him now, her hands resting on her hips with a clever little smirk on her lips, was the pink haired cherub girl.
“Hey what’re you doing here, you don’t go to this school,” he felt stupid as that was the first thing out of his mouth.
She just chuckled though. “Well that’s a nice hello Robby.”
He grinned sheepishly. “Well you know what I mean. Why didn’t you tell me you wanted to come to this thing?”
“I wanted to surprise you.”
“But who did your guest paperwork then?”
“I do have friends beside you who go here,” she chuckled again. “Draculaura got me in and dressed,” she shifted her pose to show off the pink plaid and black argyle dress a bit better. “What do you think?”
He gave her a once over, resisting the urge to go for a twice or third over. “You look amazing Doll.”
“You don’t clean up so bad yourself,” she stepped up to him and picked at the edge of his tie. “Do this yourself?”
“Well you know me, I like to personalize.”
“Well I like it,” she grabbed his hand now. “Come on,” she now tried to pull him out to the dance floor.
He didn’t put up too much resistance to her actions. So soon the pair was dancing along with most of the rest of the student body. After a few songs, a slower one came on. Robby looked unsure at first, but Cupid just grabbed his hands and placed them on her waist.
“I don’t bite, and you won’t break me you know.”
“I know, I just didn’t want to assume…”
“Well then ask,” she gave him a reassuring smile as she slipped her arms over his shoulders.
As the song went on, she rested her head against his shoulder. He relaxed as they rocked together, feeling awkward at first but as they kept going it just felt…natural.
“So…don’t you have one of these yourself, or do they not celebrate this holiday too?”
“Hm?” she looked back up to him, taking a moment to realize what he said. “Oh, yeah we do, but our break starts next week. So the dance is next week.”
“I see,” a little bit of silence settled, each waiting to see what the other would say it seemed. “So…you going with anyone to that dance then…or you just going to make it a habit to crash all events stag now?”
She chuckled a little. “Well I was sort of hoping I could maybe pick up a date tonight.”
He raised an eyebrow at that. “A “date” hu?”
Cupid blushed a little. “You know what I mean.”
Robby chuckled now. “Well I guess I could help you scope out some talent. And if all else fails, I could be made available.”
“Oh, suddenly busy are we?”
“Naw, just a matter of rearranging my travel plans.”
“Well then, rearrange because I’ve already got your guest pass approved, and my roommate to let you sleep in her spare bed.”
“Oooo a sleepover, how scandalous.”
She laughed and rest her head against his shoulder again. “You’re a dork Robby.”
He smiled at that. “Yeah, well, I try.”
Last Christmas I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special…
Not quite the request/suggestion I got on tumblr but it works. Semi-holiday, without it really being but it is…
I really am loving these two. Cupid’s design based upon my custom Cupid’s repaint and one of Ula’s 1600 gift dresses (Frankie’s I think).
