This was me trying to draw Divinity and Denizen, my pony godds of Order and Chaos, in the new G4/FiM style. Divinity has changed some since the last image I did of them together; she’s now become a Bicorn, and gained paws and the front feathering and fancier eye makeup. But there’s a reason for that, because as I was working on this, I finally figured out what to call them. They are Ethereals.

Since both Divinity and Denizen have some equine features, and some non-equine features, they can’t really be considered ponys of any breed. I know, it’d just be simple to write it off going “oh but they’re godds they don’t have to look right”. But I don’t want to cheese out of it like that this time; I’ve actually named the species.

Ethereals are the godds; there are more than just Order and Chaos; there’s the other Elements too; my ponys are polytheistic, or at least were at one point in their history. Each Ethereal is defied by having a very equine build to their body, but having longer legs with paw pads or claws, and usually one or both sets of the legs have shaggy feathering down them. They also have 2 sets of horns on their head in varying patterns, and lion/classic unicorn type tails. Their heads are generally equine in nature, except in like Denizen and probably the Fire Ethereal are draconian/lizard like. Then again, Denizen is Chaos shadows and those have no constant form so him being dragony-like could just be his own doing. But anywhos…yes.

Ethereals cannot breed with one another; they used to breed with the mortals once upon a time, creating half breeds who would either have the powers of an Ethereal or not; if they did have the powers, they could be sealed away, but not permanently (thus how Sparta turns demonic). (Personally, I’m thinking Celestia might be an Ethereal-spawn, and wears the boots to hide her feathers/paws )

But anways, that’s how I’m explaining my pony godds.

Denizen is really supposed to be all black, but I tinted his hair red to contrast to Divinity’s green and so it’d show up better and not make him blend completely into his bg. I just love the way the border cuts them off at the top and bottom, but then they jump out of it on the sides; that might just be my favorite thing about this piece ^^ I also love how Divinity’s eye liner pops against her whiteness, but it’s off set diagonally by Denizen’s white teeth popping against the black; I did put a lot of thought into the colors and placement, don’t get me wrong and think it was all a happy accident XD;;; I just really liked how it came out is all.
