Very nice and smooth design! May I ask to use this as inspiration for one of my KP fanfic characters?
Thoughts:Β
At 46-inches it is not a "longbow", which class around 64 or more inches (height of the archer or more) but a short bow. Unless it is "long" for a race more petite than human.
Personally I think it would be nastier with recurving limb tips.
The bowstring will hit the limb-grips upon release, which will not only make it noisier but damage the string and quickly fail. The addition of bowstring silencers meant to double-duty as buffers would mitigate the need for slight adjustment in design and extend the life of the bowstring.
Still it is mighty slick-looking!

Sure you can use it for inspiration. I have another edged longbow as well. The Hashakai Warbow. This one was my first attempt at making a dual use bow.

Nice concept. I'd imagine that, for melee combat, you'd wield it like a Klingon Bat'leth.
However, it looks like performing melee strikes with that thing wouldn't be as powerful since the blades would just fold back due to a lack of rigidity. This is assuming that the blades DO bend while the bow is being strung.

Very strong springs on that one, the Hashikai Warbow would actually be a better choise.

It is an old design but possible. Have you seen the Hashikai Warbow? What colors would you like?

So still want the old Vanore or would you like to upgrade to the Hashikai?
BTW, sorry it took so long.

I'd prefer the Vanore and no worries, there's no major rush.

This one was designed using spring loaded hinges. The Hashikai Warbow is a bit of an improvement.

Older piece before I discovered anti-ailiasing when rendering my pieces. Its a render of a 3d model.
