Description The first time I saw her was in the middle of a Publix parking lot where I was working. I just happened to notice her as she was pushing her cart into the cart holder. If there are such things as angels, then she would be one. Her hair was a light blond, almost white, and she had fair skin. Even though it seemed rather warm to me, she wore a sweater and a jacket. It was blue.

She got in her car and drove away.

The second time I saw her was a week later. Again, I was collecting carts in the Publix parking lot. This time I saw her as she came out of the store. I noticed that she had blue eyes.

She got in her car and drove away.

The third time I saw her, I didn’t get much of a good look at her. She was leaving the parking lot in her car as I was walking in for my shift.

I had seen her three times now. Each time was on a Friday between three and four in the afternoon. I asked my boss if I could work from two to five on Friday instead of two to five on Sunday. He agreed.

As I thought, I saw her again the following Friday. That day I noticed she drove a yellow Bug.

After that, I didn’t see her for a while. I don’t know whether she was out of town or sick or what. But, I didn’t see her. I spent three Fridays in a row waiting for her from three to four.

The next time I saw her she has holding the hand of a small girl, maybe five or six, that looked very much like her. Maybe it was her sister. She was too young to have a daughter that old.

The week after that I saw her as she was coming out of the store. I decided to muster all of my courage and took the cart after she had finished loading her groceries into her car.

“Thank you.” She said.

Now, I had seen been watching this girl for nine weeks. I wanted to talk to her, but I didn’t have enough courage to do so. Besides, what was I going to say? “Hello. I’ve been watching you for nine weeks. Would you like to go out with me?” No, that wouldn’t work.

Spring had changed into summer by then. I spent every Friday from three to four watching and waiting for her. I occasionally grabbed her cart for her. Each time she thanked me and we both went on our ways. Sometimes she brought the little girl with her.

On the twentieth week I watched her drive out of the parking lot. She stopped at the red light in front of my store.

A semi truck ran through the red light.

I didn’t see her again.
