Ok, here we have a Shredder I did for a little webcomic I had in mind. I've always wanted a black shredder that really looked bad ass. Well, that's what I made...The background might seem a little odd, but what I did there was training my skills at doing a realistic looking rock texture as well as training my light source skills.
Overall, I really like what I did there. I finally have the shredder I've always wanted to see. If you're a shredder fan and want to pimp your desktop, try this as a wallpaper...

Yeah it does require alot of patience. And with a mouse, its worst. With a good tablet, this can go quite smoothly.

It's a great piece but i have to agree with o0littlehands0o, since your main focus is a dark figure the background should be lighter or just be more detailed (you know add a stone wall or something cus he is coming down some stairs).

Yeah, I'll surely try to finish it soon. You guys are right, needs a little more work. But for now I have 2 projects I'm working on, so it won't be anytime soon. But it will be done. Thanks again guys.

hope you dont mind critiques: background mingles a bit too much with the subject drawn, and unless his armour has a glowing power, it would help if there was a lighting from some where

No problem. I really appreciate your comment. But I'll explain this piece a little more. The light source comes from a doorway not shown on the pic, just take a pitch black room, open the door and it will look alot like what you can see here. Sure mine's not perfect, but I did some testing before coloring this, and what you see here is alot like what I saw while testing. You just don't see the walls in mine.
His armor shines so much because he's close from the light source, and the metal on his armor is chrome coated. In reality, he should shine more than that, but too much was not that great.
About the background, I'm not sure that I understand what you mean. If your talking about the rocks not helping the character stand out, I don't think there's enough rocks for that. And the red carpet helps in seperating the 2. And since he's so shiney, he does stand out alot I think.
Hope that this helped you understand the piece a little more. Like I said its not perfect, but if you think that I still should change the background or anything, don't hesitate to say it.

You're right! I added texture to the armor but I never did for the suit itself. You're totally right, I'll add some texture to that as well pretty soon. Thanks for that.

Thanks alot. Yeah I always wanted a badass shredder. Worked pretty hard on this one. And at first, I wanted to do a room with torches and flames everywhere, I might still try that but for now, this dark and mysterious room fits him perfectly.

Thank you. I did had alot of fun coloring this. Although doing it with a mouse is really not that easy. I wanted to armor to have a scaly texture, and although not perfect, I'm quite satisfied of the final result.
