You have a definite command of line, which in turn creates a very stylized drawing- I actually like it very much-- but it does veer away from realism. The important thing to remember when drawing realistically is to draw what you see-- forget you are looking at a face and just draw shapes, shadows, highlights. Loosen your lines-- people are not outlined like cartoons, so trade in the thick black lines for subtle shading and contouring. The remarkable thing about human perception in relation to visual arts is that out brain likes to fill in the blanks (it's called the Gestalt) and in realism, it's a great tool. You don't need to rely on actual lines to create shapes-- suggestive lines are much for affective. (I delve more into the Gestalt and perception here: hev-art.blogspot.com/2008/07/i...
Some tips to aid with like kind of drawing is make gestural drawings-- very quick, loose, sketches. Or turn your pencil on its side and make big broad shadows, forgoing lines all together. Turn your reference photo upside down and draw it that way--you'll see the shapes and proportions more clearly as your brain isn't filling the blanks for your as readily.
You do a really nice job with your shading-- you have a nice full spectrum from bright highlights to dark shadows. Remember that the human head is round and use your shading to create the illusion of depth. It helps if you tone your background instead of working on a plain white page-- the vast emptiness can trick your eye, and in the case your your reference photo, the background informs the figure. It is a part of the composition. The highlight of his forehead masks the shape and blends into the background, while the shift in tone further down really defines the shape of his nose. Again, using that information as shading will eliminate the need for an outline.
I've done a quick redline of the reference on top of your drawing so you can better see the proportions.
You've squished his head a bit, but other parts are right on-- again, working upside down will help remedy these kinds of mistakes.
I hope this all helps and you continue practice-- you definitely have promise. Since you mentioned that you don't have an in-person art instructor, I highly recommend the book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards: www.amazon.com/Drawing-Right-S... It will help you understand the basics of perception and help you train your eye while drawing realism.
Take care and keep at it!

Well, due to the fact the weather has me contained in my house I have had plenty of time to take your advice. I need to do s bit more shading, but I'm stuck on the hair and stubble...do you have any recommendations?
And anything else you want to point out. I probably need to slow down...

thank you for the watch! Ahh!
I'm not really all that great at realism. It's mostly shading, and it's so time consuming. I am an impatient artist. But I love Misha so much I decided to give it a try. So, practice is all I got to do I guess.
