They don't really eat humans, they usually just eat the dead flesh of [dead] fish, but they do bite.

Funny thing about the myth of man eating piranhas is that when Teddy Roosevelt started the project of the panama canal(think it was that) they dammed off the river...so all the fishes there were stuck...couple months later there isn't anything else to eat...or they start eating meat...according to the source I heard this from, one of the workmen had dropped a dead deer into that part of the river. And of course the piranhas devoured it. It was this that inspired the piranha myth we have today.
strangely enough though...on the snapple tops it says that piranhas kill more people then great white sharks do...
