damn, haven't seen this nuzlocke in forever! i used to follow it, but then i kind of lost track of it, but seeing this made me curious so i went and finished it and

and...

wow. Β never ever did i expect for it to take a turn like that. that was honestly one of the best mindfucks i had the honor of reading, i'll have to tell the author how i feel in a bit, holy crap i don't even know what to think. that the nuzlocke community would spawn that kind of genius, makes me proud to have been a part of it. all the loose ends though...

imma go cry now bye

also i love how you managed to make eric's expression so bittersweet, like he's happy and sad at the sime time, saying goodbye... are-are these tears in my eyes? ;w;

cool to hear, thanks for going back to finish it off. and means a lot that you enjoyed it like that and proud of it

think it'd be good to read through my look back page by page analysis jounrals to get more reasoning on as to why certain elements became loose ends and what I was able to actually wrap up conclusively. There's also going to be a journal discussing things that weren't able to make it Β into the comic due to just too many plot threads. I wasn't able to satisfy all the plot points I brought to the table on account of me really making the story a ton more layered than I should in some elements, but I did concluded a good bulk of them I feel.

Continuing from where I ended I could have still wrapped up a few things if I truly wanted to, though I honestly felt my plans for past this point in the comic were a bit too apocalyptic and I would have lost my comedic tone near entirely (I lost it for a bit even in celestial prison) . this was the only point where I felt I could wrap up nearly everything and still get a good unforced ending, and this was hardly a spur of the moment choice, been planning for this ending instead of the very initial plans for a good year or so, giving me time to try to weave as many threads as possible back into the narrative, even if a few didn't get used as much as I'd intended.

crap i wanted to comment on the nuz itself, but well, i'll just talk to you here

oh i'm glad i finished it! there are too many comics that i lost sight of, but i'm happy that i got to see how this one unfolded, and boy i never would have thought that it'd take such a dark turn :'D

i'll definitely check it out! i can imagine that you couldn't work in as much as you would have wanted to, but that comic was filled to the brim with plot threads, and it would probably have stretched out indefinitely had you tried to satisfy them all. at the same time though, i feel like not everything needs to be explained 100% because sometimes accidents happen before something can properly reach its conclusion or maximum potential. for as complicated and messy the plot was, i think you did a great job in creating a fluent and understandable narrative, and you even managed to squeeze in some cleverly hidden foreshadowing

OddPenguin In reply to PitchBlackEspresso [2016-09-19 02:32:03 +0000 UTC]

yeah, since I've finished too, I've been noticing it's harder and harder to make time to even get on here on DA, easy to lose track of things, and yeah, got a bit of a darker streak when it comes to writing plot elements at times.

sounds good, and yeah, some elements are understandably totally forgotten too and people wouldn't notice if I didn't explain them. Thanks a lot in thinking how well I wrapped up what I could too.

I know right, it was so clever and special and not the level of bittersweet you'd expect from something that starts out so funny
LET US CRY TOGETHER

Thanks I'm happy to hear it turned out just like I wanted ;v;

SDFLSDJFLSDJFLSDJFLSDF oh man oh meeeee oh myyyy, you spoil me Kris!!! At times I feel like I was more an outier in the nuzlocke community at times, just doing my own thing far away from canon, so seeing things like this is always really nice and meaningful. so animuuu, but yes, this scene was intentionally parodying animu, so you captured that perfectly.

I need to finish up my Page by Page look back stuff, I only have like 10 more pages to type out for, then talk about specific stuff I didn't get to in the comic due to various reasons but why I think it was best left out more or less. thanks again.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Krisantyne In reply to OddPenguin [2016-08-25 16:45:34 +0000 UTC]

Aaahhh I'm glad this made you happy!
Now I wonder how many more Nuzlockes there are that stray far away from canon later on but will never get there... You never got as much attention as you deserved (especially seeing how much you commented on other people's stuff so everyone knew that you existed), but I think that was not because of the content but because it's hard for most people to pick up a comic at all when it has more than 50 long pages already.

I've been reading the look backs every time as soon as they came out, can't wait for the final installments!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

OddPenguin In reply to Krisantyne [2016-08-26 02:44:53 +0000 UTC]

oh for sure.

so true, usually it takes a good bit to stray further, but it's certainly hard to get that far in the first place.

I've been having a much harder timer lately being active given work and other sites, but I'm trying and glad to hear my efforts in sharing feedback and comments on other runs more back in the day was noticed and that you think so about the comic. I feel it might partly also have to do with the rocky start of Odd ones too, though there's no real way of knowing and I basically did what I wanted regardless, wasn't really trying to target any demographics.

last little push I needed to finish up the last Look back. there's going to be a gameplay note journal and a "what didn't end up in the comic" one too, then all of the odd ones journals will be done.
