Aquaman(DC Comics)
(This is the first of my "start-over" of this DevArt account where I begin doing all my "best-i-can" stuff, ignoring (but not forgetting) what came before. This is where it ALL kicks up to 11. Stick around as I start posting more new stuff VERY soon)
Orin, King of Atlantis. Currently dead and replaced by some new Aquaman thats supposed to be a teenager (but when Josh Middleton drew him like a teenager, like DC Comics told him to, they said he looked too much like a teenager and he had to make him look much older. But he's supposed to be a teenager... go figure) His comic was just cancelled. Aquaman is sometimes considered to be the most useless comic character. Has the power to talk to fish. Which explains EVERYTHING.

lol thats true, hopefully now that they just brought him back they can do something with him and actually make him non-lame
Back in the 90s he got his hand cut off and it was replaced with a harpoon for a number of years. Then early in the 2000s it got replaced with this magic solid water hand when they tried for a sorta mystical approach to him. And now he's back to classic two-handed Aquaman.

lol they were trying a mystical angle, try and give him something unique but no one ever really did anything with it and it went nowhere after a while. He's got two hands again now.

yeah, galloway rawks, i found his stuff a while backs and have been watching him ever since. glad to see the spider-man cartoon has his designs runnin' around on screen

Awesome! I don't follow comics much so I'm not enormously familiar with Aquaman, but this is a great pic. The linework is smooth and the colours are vibrant; he really stands out.

Don't get me wrong, I love him too, there's just some hilarious stereotypes about him from the Superfriends era :-P I'm privy to Peter David's run in the mid '90s (when he got his hand eaten off). That era was DEFINITIVE Aquaman (check it out if you get a chance) No ones really done much good with him since then and then dumbasses kill him off and replace him before they could do some good with him. Stupid DC. XD

Aside from Booster Gold, JSA & Green Lantern (hey they are ALL written by Geoff Johns, what a coincidence) DC is just a mess right now imo. Marvel just seems so much more organized with this whole Secret Invasion thing. They've been doing everything right since Civil War. The problem seems imo to be that DC has too much editoral mandating and constant deaths and replacement characters with no payoff. Hell, Captain America's been dead for a year almost and his comic is amazing even without him!

Mind you I have nothing against DC its just that Countdown is just not even close to recapturing the glory that was 52 or even Infinite Crisis and it's lead ups. Its all up to Grant Morrison's Final Crisis, I really want DC to be rawkin' again like they were a year or 2 ago.
