Description My first oil painting ever. I used some time in school for a projectwork, where I tried to teach myself how to use oils. I studied lots of art history and theory, to know where to start. Oils were so different from everything i tried before, but I'm quite satisfied, when this is my very first try.

Oil on canvas
size 30x40cm
Long time, approximately 30 hours

Hooooly crap your painting has come on , and i'm insanely jealous you get to use oils in school, we were almost too broke to afford new acrylic by the end of my year >_<

Nice to see you posting again

Thanks!

Actually, my school would never afford oils either We have a special class in school, where we have to develop our skills in how to work in projects. The theme we could choose all by ourselves, as long as we could present our work in a good way. This class gives you lots of opportunities to work with something you like. (Some started companies, some wrote books. etc) I chose Oils, even if I had to buy all the material myself, it was worth it! No doubt! I happened to find some of the things on sale, and in the end it didn't become that expensive! And now I can keep all the remaining material for the future... Nice

At what stage of school are you at at the moment? Is your old school still continuing on or are you at university or something now ?

the last year in school almost broke me, but now Kristina is heading for University! Will have my first day on Monday. The first term I'll study art pedagogy, and then i don't know what to do..

How about you and school?

What happened that school nearly broke you? Poor thing .

I had to google pedagogy to find out what it meant - damn your English is better than mine XD. I think you'd make a wonderful art teacher though .

Me and school didn't mix too well in my 2nd year, I found myself really at odds with my art course in particular, I disliked the work and ended up getting far behind, which i never really recovered from. The thing that bugged me the most was how at odds our work was with the official exemplar ( [link] vs [link] ), which we never saw. Psychology went a little better, i got an A on my first test of the year, but managed to screw up the 2nd test bad enough that the A didnt help . Going for a resit early next year. Final art results : BB

Hi! I happened to disappear once again. I think I and dA have grown away from each other. My life has taken so many new turns, that I'm kind of dizzy right now

How has life been since last time I was here? Any new art projects?

Merry christmas (from a very snowy and cold Sweden)

Glad to hear it , just got back from holiday myself, so i'll give your deviations a look soon, nice to get back to stuff like this in my inbox.

Life's been pretty slow in the past months to be honest - I'm at a stage where i'm inbetween important things, finished school, had some time off and stupidly missed my chance at some lasting jobs, my ex and most of my friends went off to uni, and i'm mostly just waiting for my next course in February . I've been doing a little artwork but havnt been on here much lately either, might upload a christmas deviation or two later

Merry christmas to you too (from a sunny Spain and a freezing Britain)

Sounds like you're having a tough time anyway. I hate all of the big and important chioces one have to deal with.

So what kind of course starts in February?
