Aah, I love these! Well, this is right on the spot for me(i love images that make me think i'm in a movie when i look at them).
1. The mood is induced mainly by the subtle blending of cold and warm colors, which has a great impact in the mind of the viewer. It's like black/white, people associate most of their feelings with warm colors, whereas cold colors bring mystery, fright, and other things. So, I like that subtle feeling. It gives a great atmosphere and something to look at.
2. The second factor that brings mood to the image is the choice of the fisheye lens. Without it, the space and perspective would have brought this image a normal feeling. I know that this photograph is meant to be part of urban exploration, but I see a story in it.
3. I also think the imaginary lines in the image have their role. Asides the perspective, they give the viewer something to look at and search for.
In my opinion, the bad thing about this (which is not disastrous) is that you have no detail in the sky and that would have helped with the atmosphere and that the object at the intersection of lines, at the horizon, is not something with one can relate to; I mean that after you look at the image, your eye sets on that point and it has to be something strong, that concludes all the idea.

Thanks for the mini-DD! I enjoyed the kind words.
I really don't know why the sky turned out like that honestly. It could be the white balance setting? I think I had it set on "Sunny" when I should have probably tried "Dark" instead haha.

It's pretty cheap... only $300 (most are $700 and up).

It's cheap cause it doesn't auto-focus. You have to shoot in manual mode too, so you control exposure and white balance. But that's no biggie. The focus ring isn't an issue too (I have it set at F8 and 2 feet on the distance ring. Everything is in focus that way...
