Description I'm sorry about the extreme noise. I was shooting late at night and it was super dark, so my measly D3000 couldn't handle the high ISO setting, but the bokeh on that bridge was just too beautiful to pass up. I was thinking of doing some noise reduction, but that took out took much detail, so I just used a black and white filter and dodged/burned some areas. I added extra noise to give it that "old crappy film camera" vintage look.

Here is another shot from the Festival of Lights: [link]

I think it's rather successful, and I like that you took the noise and ran with it.

Thanks Roger, I appreciate it. It's still my favorite shot of my wife. There's just something surreal about it... idk.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping people would say. It's that "I have a crappy film camera" old school vintage look lol.

Why not making your camera in Raw output?

Good suggestion. Next time I'm in a similiar predicament, I'll try to change the output and compare the two.

You'll have to postwork with photoshop ... decrease "details"...
You have many tutorials in google explaining this [link] [link]

Thanks! I appreciate it. I tried noise reduction, but it took all detail out of her face. The shot looked unfocused, that's why I went with noise augmentation instead.

I can reduce all this noise but it's a commission...why would you spend money when I am sure you are able to this by yourself
You first mistake was not making you output in Raw
I made a try from your photo, even if it's in JPG I saw that reducing this noise is possible...make this by myself would take very much time...
Type on google " reduce noise photohop" you'll find so many tutorials
First of all try... OK

Oh yeah, I already tried. That's why I decided to increase the noise instead.

See? It looks bad once you reduce the noise. The detail in her face is gone.
