Description This photograph was taken on the 4th of July (almost near midnight) at Newport. I was there to watch the fireworks and celebrate independence day.

It was taken with the Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 fisheye lens. Here is one that was taken earlier:

Lovely, as always. I really like how the city lights come across in this picture. They really look so warm, and the streaks of purple and blue in the water is a cool effect!

This is one of the most beautiful pictures I've seen in a long time.

The vibrant colors contrast very well with the black water, and the timing is perfect. The way the colors blend, yet maintain a subtle difference is fantastic, and the blues mixed in with the orange really balances out the piece.
Honestly, there isn't a thing I would change about this piece. Compelling and beautiful, this piece belongs in a calendar or museum. Keep up the brilliant work!

All the colors are really amazing. The bridges help frame the picture very nicely while the skyline being off-center actually helps the picture rather than hindering it. I like how the sky overhead is kind of glowing and how some of the lights are slightly overexposed. It's very beautiful, nicely done.

Thank you! I "enhanced" it (made it smoother) in CS5 just a little bit. It was definitely a gorgeous night. The water is usually a little more turbulent because of all the boats, but it was calm there due to the fireworks display.

Never give up! Keep trying.

Take a look at my EXIF data to make notes on the exposure. Typically they were no more than 20 seconds with low ISO. Good luck! I actually live in Fairfield, OH.

woah...this seems almost a complete contrast to the other photo. That was relaxed and chilled. This seems more agressive and fast with the orange/black contrast. Nice stuff.

Thanks again! Yeah, this shot was taken much later in the night... when the fireworks were over. I stuck around and did another long exposure to see how different it would look.

It's a tough choice between the versions for me once again, but I'm a-gonna go with the nighttime one. The reflection of the city's lights on the bay's water clinches it for me.
