July 4th, 2012That night was perfect! It was a hot 100°F day, but the riverfront breeze felt great, the water was very tranquil, and the sky was pitch black by the time the fireworks show started.

Gorgeous, I love the sense of depth, and the timing is just right! The fisheye lens created a beautiful, in-a-globe effect without the distortions becoming overwhelming.
I wouldn't change a thing, this is lovely!

Thank you very much Hefeigal! I love my fishy for situations like this. Those fireworks were actually like 100 feet in the sky, but I somehow still caught them. The burst on the right was actually photoshopped in haha... I used the clone stamp.

beautiful photo! what kind of lens and what focal length did you use? (I'm interested since the focal length in the camera data says 0mm)

Thank you Makani! I used a manual fisheye lens that doesn't make electrical contact with the camera body, so the EXIF data comes out a little skewed.
The focal length is actually 8mm and the F stop was 8 or 11.

Love the title. Very clever. Normally I don't like all those corny, rhyming, butt-of-the-joke phrases, but this is awesome!

I think I figured out why I like this particular stupid phrase more than the other (quoting myself) "corny, rhyming, butt-of-the-joke phrases:" the first half of the phrase [red, white and blue] actually means something more and bigger than words (in this case, an entire nation and not to mention it's pride) and what words are normally used to say or explain. And unlike the usual stupid jokes, the words aren't just answering a simple question. And another thing unlike a joke, you actually get to SEE at least one half of the final phrase; in this case it's the "boom." It's not a big deal, but apparently it is to me...
Anyway, thank you for replying to my comment, it lead to a stunning realization and the beginnings of some sort of philosophy. It's a nice photo, too. Ciao!

woooah. Is that a fish eye lens being used? great photograph. *just read that part in the artists description about fish eye lens 
As for the fireworks...I'd say you did well. The most interesting photographs are where lots is happening at once, but I suppose that when only so many rockets are being launched, you are a little limited. That said, the cityscape background makes up for a lot.

This is very beautiful! I love the wide angle, and the magnificent view. The lighting is really cool as well, shows off that glow from the awesome fireworks. I really like the reflections off the water as well! nicely done!
