Description
Due to coronal mass ejections from the Sun, auroras can be seen in the southern U.S.! This is an artwork of the auroras I could see last night way down south in Tennessee around 10:00 last night (5/10/24), but it's supposed to be even brighter for the next few nights! Try to get out when the sky is dark, get away from light pollution, and look up! It's not something you want to miss!
This all happens when charged particles are spewed out of the Sun on the solar winds. These particles are extremely dangerous, but, when they contact Earth's electromagnetic field, they get trapped, spinning and releasing light. They bounce from pole to pole, emitting light, creating the aurora borealis.
