Beautiful for a random doodle! LOL XD
A character design like this should definitely be given a story!

Thank you! (;w; I think maybe I need to stop drawing random stuff off the top of my head and actually draw something that's planned...lol
A story...Gah that might be beyond me lol, I have so many random OCs... XD I wonder what her story could be...

You're welcome. You could have any story you want. I know a lot of people who do the same thing you do, draw an awesome character with no name or story, and they say it's a random drawing. LOL XD

I never understood how people do that; I always have to make some kind of story up with my drawings like that. Even if they're something silly or simple. Or I at least give them a name, their favorite things, or where they live. Then again others have told me how they don't understand how I can come up with stories for characters.

*nods* yeah, I've seen such cases too I am guilty of creating many random OCs without any story >_<;
That's awesome that you can make stories and profiles to go along with your characters, I wish I was that creative!!

I don't try hard enough I guess, to give them a story... Believe it or not though, I do have some OCs with somewhat of a story - I don't know why I've never drawn them, come to think of it :-/ Their story isn't really concrete and is constantly changing, so I don't want to draw anything just in case, I guess :S *headdesk* I was actually planning to draw a comic/manga, a story I started working on back in 2003~2004. *blushes this is embarrassing for some reason LOL* I have some folders with notes, doodles etc, but got side-tracked and eventually left it a few years ago :<

Anyhow, pardon the long rant!

Hey stories are meant to evolve and change! Especially when you first come up with them. I sometimes like to do rewrites of certain "episodes" of my stories with various event changes. (I call them episodes because I'm not changing the entire theme of the story itself, just a certain story within the story.) It's fun to do because it's like when you first write it, you go, "Ah this is awesome!" but later something may inspire you to go, "Ah, I should have written this to happen in that one story." Sometimes for me it's another part of the story I come up with that makes me go back to rewrite a previous episode, or I research and learn something and find out that what I wrote actually make little to no sense.

(Talk about ranting.) LOL XD

Yes, that's true huh ^^ *nods* hmm I see... I envy your writing ability! XD I know I'll prolly find it tricky to think up a new story/profile each time I draw a new OC, but I shall try sometime! Thank you for inspiring me to do so!

(and not at all~ thank you!) Happy New Year, by the way!

Happy New Year to you too!

(#^_^#) I'm glad I inspired you to try something new in a way. I've never looked for places to publish my stories because 1) I don't know where to go. 2) I don't know how to self publish. 3) I've heard of websites that allow authors to write and post their stories; but I'm iffy on that. (Mostly scared about the sites not being legit and others on the net stealing.) So I don't know how good I actually am, but I have had others tell me my stories concepts are good ideas.

When I do write I do give myself rules to follow. Like:
Never make or give the main character too much.

Give the side/supporting characters (the MCs friends or so) just about the same amount attention as the main character themselves. (After all they're not there to worship the main character's every word and move!) XD

When I write a new story I give my self a set number of main and side characters just so I don't loose track. A limit.

Establish what is and what is not cannon. (I sometimes hint this by having my characters asking certain breaking 4th wall type questions and other things like that. LOL XD)

Always give my characters at least 1 bad habit, a flaw, a weakness, a fear, 1 good habit, a strength, 1 good quality, a belief, and 1 quirk. (I do this cause I think ever human has at least 1 of all these things.)

Yeah, I'd imagine self-publishing in itself is a big risk to take, and a lot of work regarding finding reliable companies to publish your work... keep hunting on google though and for others who have taken the self-publishing route; hopefully you'll find something that you will be helpful. I have heard of a site called lulu?? that specialises in self-publishing apparently, but I'm afraid I don't know much in that area... If you do go for self-publishing, hope it goes well! C:

Those seem like sensible guidlines/rules to go by, thanks for sharing! I did take notes from a lecture on character/story from class earlier last year, so hopefully I can apply those as well haha. Thanks again!

Lulu? I'll have to look at it. I'm sure the biggest problem would be money though when it comes to publishing; wether I decide to self publish or find someone. I'm still in school and I don't work. Maybe I should do a short story, one just to test with on one of those kind of sites. Thanks.

Yeah, here's the site here: [link]

I dunno how much it would cost, but unfortunately money is the biggest concern for self-publishing anything and even more difficult for a student :S If you are able to self-publish sometime in the future though, I hope it goes well!
