This is beautiful. I love the unspoken sadness you portrayed in 1. You captured his feelings of loss quite masterfully. I support the idea 8 was like something of a son to 1, but I don't think he realized it completely until he lost 8.
Poor guy. Sure he's hard on the outside, but there's a heart in there somewhere, if you're willing to look.

Thank you very much. 1 did seem to take 8 for granted, especially with calling him an "illiterate cretin" right in front of everyone, but 8 was always loyal to him anyway. And 1 did look pretty troubled when 9 told hm the Seamstress took 8. It's so sad.

Awwwww that's so heartfelt, especially since it's coming from 1's point of view. I love how you've interpretated the fact that he really did care about them, and now that they're gone he feels nothing but regret. I figured 1 thought highly of 8 for being so loyal to him, and he probably tolerated a lot of 15's silliness because she made 8 happy.
So true, what you and Emmi said about not knowing what you've got until it's gone. At least they all get to be together again in the end.

Awwwww. This is such a sweet piece. I love all the different little panels you came up with to show the trio's bond with one another. Just so adorable. I love 1's annoyed expression as 15 plays with the little bell on his staff.

I think the panel with 8 and 15 turned out the best, but my favorite is the panel with 1 and 15. He might be annoyed that she's playing with the bell, but he's still letting her do it.
Glad you like the gray backgrounds. I wanted to give the memory images a cloudy look so they'd look different from the drawing of 1 at the bottom, but I wasn't quite sure how to create that effect.
And poor 1. He's done so many horrible things to keep the group safe, and all it did was cost him the two people he cared about most.
