Description
Another fanart of 6 from Shane Acker's movie 9.This was an idea that just wandered into my head one day. The basic concept is that 6 feels like he's constantly oppressed by 1 and 8, but he doesn't dare leave the cathedral because the outside world is even more dangerous and bleak. In more ways than one, he feels trapped where he is. It's even more fitting that he's black-and-white striped like a prison uniform.

I really feel like Skillet's new song, Sick of It, would work to the movie nine, with the whole concept of 9 getting everyone to "get out there" and defeat their enemy instead of cowarding in fear and being bossed and bullied by 1.

I always thought the black and whhite stripes were like from... a jumper for like, an asylum... geddit...

For some reason, it reminds me of people who leave imprisonment.
Like in the 40's, the Japanese Americans were free to go and nowhere else to go.
Or, prisoners trying to escape from jails in Siberia.
But... If this world still existed, 6 may of wanted to see what its like to be out there for just one day.

great job! you can feel so much depth of 6 as a character in his hopelessness, trying to escape from his vision of contort.
8's shadow looks menacing, but 1, since knowing a bit from his character, doesnt look as threatening. more like... observing like a teacher.

Wow, thank you very much! I drew this picture about three years ago, and I don't even remember how much thought I put in to it at the time. Sometimes pieces of art need critiques to bring out their full meaning, and you gave it a lot of meaning!

This is incredible! You can really connect to 6 here, I can actually feel his sadness. It's like he realized the true bleakness of the world RIGHT there, and sank to the ground in despair, realizing he's completely trapped. And I really like the shadows of 1 and 8 as they watch, it makes it more mysterious and menacing. But I think that 1 thinks it's what must be done, that they must hide from the terrors of the dead world, I don't think he's particularly feeling anything but that at this moment, you know what I mean? That's what I think when I look at this.

Thank you very much! I agree with you about 1. I don't remember if I still disliked his character at the time when I drew this, but I've come to understand him much better since then. I don't think he has any intention of harming or threatening 6 in this picture. He's just standing back and letting 6 realize on his own how hopeless their situation is, because he believes that will save 6 from a lot of pain and grief in the future.

In the old days they were black and white striped. I'm not sure when "9" takes place, but the human world that was left behind seems to be from the 1940's.

Not only is he cept in the cathedral tower because of 1 and 8, no one even notices him anyway. Funny how his skin is prison like. Poor 6. Nice art.

You know, I never thought of it that way before. It's odd, because in the "Genesis" comics, I imagine that the Scientist modeled 6 after a boy who was rescued from sort of internment camp. That idea came long after this picture.
