Bishop Havel the Rock, from Dark Souls!Ah, the memories of carelessly opening a locked door to a room containing a guy wielding a ginormous club that one-shotted me.

When I first started playing, roaming around Undead Burg I declared myself a badass because I defeated the black knight of the burg and had run all around the entire area, finding everything I could until I came to the spiraling tower.
I was in a call with a friend and I just casually asked "So what's at the bottom of this tower?"
My friend, who's played this game over and over by then, says "Oh god don't go down there!"
I responded with "Why? What- oh hey, a human. He looks pretty threatening."
Mark: "RUN RUN RUN!"
And then I got smashed. gg Havel, I will do no further exploration in this area until such a time as I can push your shit in with a better weapon and take that ring of yours.

Parrying? Hah, when I fought him I didn't know how to parry well, so I found myself hitting him once, then dodging his dunks. I killed him after my s̶e̶c̶o̶n̶d̶ t̶h̶i̶r̶d̶ f̶o̶u̶r̶t̶h̶ f̶i̶f̶t̶h̶ s̶i̶x̶t̶h̶ s̶e̶v̶e̶n̶t̶h̶ EIGHTH TRY!

I still can't believe I managed to cheeze this guy over first time I played... out near the Hydra where some likely open the door to him, I didn't open it... instead I just sat there and Zweihander R2'd him through the door... He dunk'd me three times in the process.
The RIGHT way to do it.
1. Defeat Mothra
2. Aquire Dwaynes key
3. Head to Dwaynes Basement
4. Use Dwaynes key
5. "Smell what The Rock is cookin'!"
6. Parry-Reposte+Backstabs all around.

You know Havel the rock wears rock armor and uses a rock shield that makes his armor become another layer of rock armor.

I did the same thing as you, except I wasn't wearing any armor at all so I was able to avoid him and backstab with a +10 Claymore hehe.

On my first character, when I got to NG+, The first thing I did when I left Firelink was go straight to Havel, bare hand parry and 1-shot riposte him. I felt so satisfied because of all the shit he caused for me when I first started playing.
