Description Hitting an iceberg or getting too close a hungry giantess could have similar consequences.

Anno 1687. A British expeditionary fleet was sent to the north pole as part of a marine investigation. Recent accounts of a monstrous creature attacking merchant vessels along the Norwegian coast caught the interest of Lord Hardwick. For the sake of glory, he accepted the queens proposal and was granted a squadron of indeed well equipped warships to further investigate the matter. Lord Hardwick announced his forces that he granted the great reward of £180 000 to the one person or crew who slays the beast. This was met with great content and many were willing to enroll for the sake and they could soon set sail.

One morning when traveling up the Norwegian Sea the flotilla met with a thick mist. Soon as the mist cleared, the lookout spotted of something large wading closer the coast. The silhouette of a giant upper body caught his eye. GIANT!! -, he shouted down below, It's the MONSTER!!. And as he'd said that, the giant turned on them and began wading towards them. They began beating to quarters and started turning the ships in order to fire onto the giant approaching them. All this was in wain as it was all too late, the giant was too close and too fast for them. They simply didn't have time to prepare themselves due to the sudden appearance. Many jumped in fear to their deaths into the cold waters, hoping to reach land. The giant now appeared to be a woman. She began harassing the ships and crews, but was to hungry to simply start pressing them all under. Instead she began collecting as many of the crew as she could and began eating them in the process, handfull after handfull. Due to the massive shock, no single cannon shot was fired against the giant during the first stages of her attack. Many simply hid under the decks, hoping to survive the giants wrath. But this was all in wain as their giant foe soon began wrecking up the hulls to get the ones inside.
