well, making this piece has truly been...... an experience..... to say the least XD allow me to explain though: not only did this piece take about 50 hours to complete over the course of about 10 days, it also had a bit of tragedy tied in with its early stages. there's quite a story behind this, so if you dont feel like listening to it, you can skip the next paragraph, but it is a pretty good story XD

alright, well as some of you may or may not have known, my winter break from school began last wednesday, i believe it was the 23rd of december. we had a shortened day, so i spent most of my classes sketching a character from the movie AVATAR, though i hadnt even seen the movie yet. it was turning out pretty good, so when i got home i decided to ink it and start coloring it, which i did until about three in the morning. there was a lot of work to do on it, so i spent the next few days doing the same thing. then, on christmas eve, after coming back from a restaurant (im jewish so christmas is kind of boring for my family XD) i decided to continue the drawing and listen to some music on itunes (bad idea when running vista XD), and my computer crashed. i tried to restart my computer, and when i opened up photoshop, the file was corrupted. i literally cried for three hours. it was really sad, especially since i was about to do the background and everything. so i stayed away from the drawing for a day or two, and actually went to see AVATAR, which was a blessing in disguise because i realized i had gotten a few things wrong in my drawing, and i had to fix the original sketch anyway. so i've been working on this version for almost a week straight now, and im happy to say that im quite glad with the end result ^^!

so yeah, i was pretty bummed about what happened, but it all worked out for the better ^^!

anyway, about the drawing itself, im really happy with it ^^! i love the way the hair came out, and i like the way i did her skin. this is also my first time doing a background anywhere near as good as this, and i know its not perfect, but its a lot better than what i usually do XD so i have to give credit to #photoshop-tutorials for their waterfall tutorial, of which i followed the first few steps then became confused because my photoshop doesnt have all the commands and was being stupid XD so anyway, couldnt have done the waterfall without that tutorial ^^! XD oh yeah and before i forget, this is an AVATAR oc (if you couldnt tell, i know im not great XD), and her name is Nevitra. she's got a scar from being attacked by another na'vi from a different tribe before they were united, and she was born with a shorter braid which made her ability to forge bonds a bit weaker than most of hr kind. yep, i have a backstory for everything XD anyway, enjoy ^^!
