well if I had access to those it'd probably was my wasted youth as well.
But only battletech game I played and finished was MechCommander 2.
Way later got superior MechCommander 1, but after getting MadCat in 3rd mission or so I kinda stopped playing for no reason. Had MW3 and MW4 but never got into them.

I remember MechCommander 2. It was fun, but I never went very far with it. Mechwarrior 2 was actually the first CD game I ever owned. I was terrible at it, but I had fun. Mechwarrior 3 was beautiful, but there were performance difficulties and balancing issues. Played a lot of Mechwarrior 4, including all its spinoffs.

Fun series of games, shame new mechwarrior is just online F2P game instead of fullfledged campaign, I hope at least new tactics game will be good after that kickstarted success.
cause after Front Mission (excluding Evolved) we didn't have almost any mech tactics game, which is a shame.

Maybe Im wrong, but at this point It must be more dificult to get a diferent shape of a robot than the drawing itself.
