Sloynta. I see you’re out of west Contae Chorcaí, so you must fluent in Munster Irish. Unfortunately I don’t speak any form of Irish so I don’t really know what you said. hehe well first things first your spelling of "sláinte" was way off [there are no Y's in the irish language].
I commend your (albeit limited) knowledge of the language though it's more than most "irish americans" know, that's for sure! sorry if i come across as slightly arrogant, it's just that a lot of irish americans brag about their heritage without knowing the first thing about it. it seems you're one of the better ones though

As it turns out I wanted to emphasize the Munster pronunciation of sláinte and used the phonetic version “English” equivalent sloynta (vis-à-vis the Ulster slaan-cheh and Connacht sloyn-tche). Because, I believe, the dialects of Ireland transcend the standard Irish language itself: for they represent the people and diverse communities the Gaeltachtaí of the land. So while sláinte is the correct spelling, unspoken and only written it says little about the regional context. It’s completely understandable to be a native Irishman and laugh at plastic paddies in their naivety. Tiocfaidh Ár Lá is a controversial slogan I probably shouldn’t have posted. However, it should be kept in mind that of all 19th century immigrants, (my ancestors included), the Irish were one of the most nationalistic. There was a point after the potato famine when the number of Irish in America exceeded that of Ireland. Loyalty to “Hibernia” was so fierce that after the American Civil War veterans and members of the Fenian Brotherhood raided military fortifications in Canada to pressure Britain to withdraw from Ireland. That all said, I think it should come of no surprise that there are some Americans who to this day feel a strong connection and loyalty to Ireland.
