Description Hello! It's been way too long since I posted anything, but I'm pleased to report that I'm finally done with the freelance way of life. Since June, we've been living in Toronto, where I'm working full-time on site at a small game studio with no anticipated end in sight. It's pretty great! The best part is being able to afford groceries and not living in fear of having no rent money.

As a consequence of full-time hours and commute, it's harder to find free time to get into the personal art zone anymore, but hopefully I can settle on some sort of project to start developing.

For now, have this made up bird because hey birds are neat. Also, if you're in the market for some artistic inspiration, check this video out. [link] After some sleuthing, I found out that the videos are from a series of shorts called Stars of the Bicentennial, created to celebrate Mexico's 200th anniversary. Beautiful stuff that my scribbly bird can't compete with!

Congrats on the job! What sort of game are you working on?
It's a cool bird, and I like the scribbly reeds to the left : D I kinda wish the legs would meet the water further down than the background.

Thanks! I've actually been doing work for this company on an as needed basis long-distance since last year, but they secured enough stability to bring me on site, so here I am. [link] We work on all sorts of games, with our current hired projects being a facebook puzzler and a sort of interactive mystery-solving game for educating young kids about careers. Once we finish these two contracts up, though, we'll be able to switch back to our cooler in-house projects later this year, which I'm looking forward to.

Man, I totally agree about the legs, now that I notice the tangent! Gotta keep compositional stuff like that in mind more.

This turned out wonderfully~ I enjoy birds, and ducks.

Thank you, dear! ♥ I do remember well your ducky fondness.

Nice to know anyone still remembers us after all the absence! Being hired and moving was a huge process and getting settled on our own enough to resume old routines like art/DA has taken a good while. We just passed our 2nd wedding anni a few days ago, though, so I'm just thankful we made it to living on our own before that hit!

C;

Of course I do!
I'm glad to hear things are getting better for you two.
Stuff like DA is allowed to come second. Getting IRL stuff going is much more important.

Happy Anniversary :3
You two are doing well going over the hurdles of life.
Nothing can break you guys.

Beautiful work! I love the texture to the whole piece. It adds such an original quality. The colors are fluidity in which you painted with them is stunning. The way the bird's shape stands out against the background really places the focus. Lovely!

Aw, what a flattering comment! <3 I've been trying to make myself stop caring so much about rendering every fiddly little detail in favour of getting the energy out first, so I'm happy that sketchiness doesn't seem to have prevented you from enjoying it.

Actually the looseness of it is what gives the piece such great character. In fact, it almost looks like a character design. The bird certainly has an expression to him/her. You're very talented!

Hah, I've actually been considering doing more sketches of this particular 'character', since it did kind of gain more personality than I originally set out to impart. Doing things right accidentally is always funny. xD Thank you for the kind words!

Oh please do! He has so much personality even from a single image. It is a new kind of training to try to draw/paint the same thing multiple times. More difficult than it looks for sure.
Best of luck!
