Description Owltober 18th!

I'm feeling considerably more lively today, thanks in no small part to everyone's amazing generosity with donations, commissions, and spreading the word to help my wife and I out of our situation.

One of those friends is . Since she was hoping for an owl design of some kind, I dedicated tonight's owltober to warming up for that with a whole flock of Saw Whet owls. I didn't really achieve anything I'm super in love with, but I at least feel loosened up for designing something suitable for her in the future. ♥

Haha, I only recently watched the transforming owl video. That thing is awesome and I really should do some art of it before Owltober ends on me. Because clearly I will be arrested if I draw owls outside of the safety of this month?

awwwwww!! OWLS!! Tiny adorable owls!! They are so cute!!

I am not familiar with saw whet owls. That's a new species for me. I tried looking at some of them on youtube ... but most of the videos seem to be them crashing into people's windows ... 0____0

anyhoo!! I'm glad you felt inspired!! Love the owls! my favs are the first row, second one from the left, and second row, third one from the left.

We were at a used book store last year where I picked up a north american field guide to birds that's come in handy quite a bit since Owltober started. xD Heartbreak over imagining any owls meeting a windowy demise, though! ;;

There are so many owls!!

The only time I've seen owls was in Kenya ... so I guess I like those owls! I saw this guy (which I think is a pearl spotted owlet): [link] He's very tiny!

Then there's this huge owl I saw at an animal sanctuary in Kenya: [link] a Verreaux Eagle Owl. I love the ear tufts and the oddly pink eyelids.

Those crazy pink eyelids were too inspiringly weird not to base your owl off of that species, as adorable as the pearl spotted owlets are. Check out today's Owltober upload for the payoff! ♥
